was in coucil flat for about 3yrs, when our two boys came along thy kept getting ill, later found out it was damp and mold in there room (kept getting it and all the coucil done was paint over it) so we had enough and went private. has been find for past 2yrs (kids ant been in hospital ONCE). Now since everything is goin up we are finding it very hard, tryed the coucil to get back into a 2/3 room place - (the reply i got)
Your application is live on our waiting list, but you have 0 points. This is because you are seen as adequately housed where you are. When people are private renting with the correct number of bedrooms for their size of family, they are seen as not having a housing need, so 0 points are awarded. If any of you have medical needs, you could complete medical claim forms, this would be the only way of obtaining points.
nothing there for financial problems? any ideas, our rent is going up and will start the debt (after me working hard to get out of debt)
any help would be great......
Tell lies on your application, that's how a lot of people get a house off the council. Where I stay there are plenty of single people with 2 bedrooms & what they say is their kids stay at the weekend so they need an extra bedroom.( I never see the kids visiting).
I do not condone this type of application but just telling you how it is done.;)

Thats odd. In my area we are in a simlar position, and still have some points(though not enough to even get a bedsit!).
If you go to the doctors and tell them it is makeing you depressed, then speak to your housing officer, you will get more points (naughty i kow butit does sound like it is causing you distress). They can give you discretionary points.£2 Savers club £0/£150

As you are renting from a private landlord, can you not apply for Local Housing Allowance? I think, depending on you income you will get some help for your rent. At the end of the month you will have to pay the full rent to your landlord, but the council will pay you some amount to you.
As it ismy first post, I can't post the link for LHA. You can use the search function there to find out how much you are eligible for in your area

All LA have different criteria on housing! Your best bet would be to speak to your LOCAL CAB as they are usually very hot with the LA guidelines.
Ine you have done that I would then book an appointment with your LA housing officer and go through the application with them. Also it may be worth speaking to the homless officer at the LA and explain your situation and that you are worried about being made homless and have children and what their process is if that happens.
If your looking for council housing above should help get you a clearer picture so you can plan accordingly. However Housing benefit maybe a better option especially if you like the place you are now. The forms tend be around 30 pages and if you dont like filling forms in dont hesitate to contact youe LA as they will have a drop in centre for support or a booking system to arrange an appointment.
I wish you the best as it is a real shame that social housing has gone the way it has and it is now inaccesable for the people it was there to help originally.0 -

Ring shelter.
But deal with the mold issue first - get it assessed and resolved.
Get local councillor to assist if you need to.
but put all requests in writing to the council, confirm all phonecalls in writing.0
