Daughter is moving into rented flat on Saturday. I understand there is already a bt line and should be able to connect without having to pay. She is also on BT broadband and her contract expires at the end of the month. She does not want to stay with bt and wants to go with 02 BB at £7.50 a month. Please can somebody advise what will be the best option for her to do? Transfer her bt broadband when she moves and then cancel and ask for a MAC or cancel her bt bb at the end of the month and then subscribe to 02. Does she still need to ask bt for her mac and give it to 02? Thanks

Do not transfer the BT broadband. BT bb will likely intepret it as a brand new contract.
Cancel her BT broadband when it expires at her old address as you have suggested already.
Sign up to o2 (or any other ISP) at new address with its new telephone number. No MAC required of course.0 -
Thanks, what about her bt phone, can she transfer using the same number or is it better if she cancels and then phones bt to activate the line in the new flat?0

I believe the BT phone number can only be transferred if both old and new addresses are connected to same physical telephone exchange.
Personally, I'd have BT assign a new (unused) telephone number to the new flat and take it from there.
imho, transferring the telephone number just sounds like it may be asking for trouble given you also wish to change broadband providers.0
