its only a few days old, only prob is the person i got it from might not give my money back as its fleabay.

It basiclly says camera, but i get no picture, just my background. info..

  • update.... still not working. but when use phone without the sim! in offline mode, the camera works perfectly fine. but when the simcard goes back in. camera stops working...idaes....?
  • Even though you got it off eBay you can always contact the seller and ask for your money back. How did you pay for it? If the seller lets on that he knew about the faults, and didn't specifically mention it in the listing, you can report it to eBay and try to claim your money back.

Another good idea might be to look on the web and see if anyone else has had a problem with that firmware version. My old Nokia 3310 crashed a lot due to a firmware problem. If this is the problem then a firmware update at the nokia centre might fix it.

One other solution might be to try another SIM in it. You mentioned that its ok without a SIM in it. Is the SIM you're using particularly old? It might be causing a problem. Try another SIM and see if it still crashes.

Failing all of that, contact the eBay seller and explain fully what's wrong with it.

I hope you get it sorted.
    Boo!

did it work when you got it?
try this before you take it to repair center
NOTE: Backup all data on your phone before continuing as all will be lost!

    Step 1:
    a.) Enter the code *#7370#
b.) Answer [Yes] to the following prompt: "Restore all original phone settings? Phone will restart."
c.) Enter the security code when the phone prompts for it. (Default: 12345)
d.) The phone will now restart.
e.) Once restarted, all data will have been erased and the phone will ask you for some settings.

if still the same try this
    a.) Turn off the phone.
    b.) Press and hold the following keys: [Answer] + [*] + [3]
[Answer] = Answer key (green phone)
    [*] = Star key
    [3] = Numeric 3 key
c.) While holding the above keys, press the [Power] button to switch on the phone. (may say formatting)
d.) Once again all data will have been erased and the phone will ask you for some settings.
  • When i purchased it it was working fine,

the physical switch was fine and still is...

took to service centre, he loaded the same three software on and it was working...

but has stopped working again!! :(

I think that the software is messed, or possibly the phone, as my brother has the same phone with the same software and has no problems at all...

The seller said he said he sold the phone as new, so he will not accept returns as they come with a full nokia warranty as i confirmed and this is true.,

Please help me out...I spoke to the service centre person, he said loading on a generic firmware was my choice but a bad idea, as he cannot downgrade and i lose all the three things....will this be a problem..advise please..

i would be suprised if the service center loaded a different s/w to that which the phone was sold on (as in not branded rather than later version) as i dont think they are supposed to for warrenty repairs. you would lose the "3" branded stuff with a generic flash
as the phone is still faulty tell the service center you want it fixed under warrenty.
try the nokia website to find a better service center

    Hi
he said the generic firmware is newer then the three firmware currently:3.04.37 and it would prob be less buggy... but said i lose all branding. he said if i want it repaired it will have to go to nokia CRC and i will be without a phone, also if crc replace the phone they usually do with a refurb handset that will most prob crap out as it is...advise..please

crc do all of my warrenty repairs
you will be without a phone (although they may supply you with a crappy one if you leave a deposit)
not sure about refurb replacements - they lost one of mine once and replaced it with new
if they cant fix it (they are only allowed to repair up to a certain level) then it will go back to nokia who can be very slow.
i would try a reflash of the latest 3 firmware 1st in case it is a bit corrupted.
also i think (not certain) you should still be able to use the 3 stuff with a generic flash but may just need to get the settings sent back to your phone

I'd take it into the nearest Vodafone shop and explain it's not working - you could take the warranty with you. If you're lucky they'll exchange it for you there and then. You don't have to say you got it off ebay - in fact I wouldn't!

I had trouble with my battery after just two weeks and did this and they just swopped it over. They did offer to change whole phone but it would mean that I'd have lost my ringtones so I said no. I didn't have any warranty or proof where I had got it from on me.

I got the phone direct from Vodafone btw.
    Good Luck
