Body kits and Insurance?

Cool, thanks guys - I just phoned my existing insurer (they are lovely, they are) and they told me that all of the above would be noted on the policy but none of it inflates the premium. He's just doing me a new quote now!
If it all works out well, I'll be off to Cheshire tomorrow...Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Right, I'm off to see it tonight and hopefully drive it home with me...
Insurance was fine in the end - seems to depend on the underwriter, Fortis refused cover for "more than two modifications", but NIG were absolutely fine with it - even said they'd cover the modifications like-for-like in the event of a claim.
Anyone got some clever tips for things to check while I'm up there??? Clearly test drive, poke the underseal to check it's not covering up rust, look at the engine whilst running and check MOT certificates for mileage consistency...
Car has been re-registered back to its original reg plates (not the private ones), which I've informed my insurance company of, and we'll fill out the V5 there and then. It's already taxed and MOT'd.
Next step, make sure the insurance company pays out a decent valuation on my car!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
It's mine! Really is immaculate - the bodywork and paintjob are infallible, perfect and shiny as if fresh from the factory.
The only faults I could find on the car were in the interior - an aesthetic-only button missing from inside the doorhandle, a dodgy hinge on the glove compartment, and a missing cupholder.
All these things are identical to the ones in my old car's interior - any idea whether I can raid it for spare parts??? I'm going to empty the car today.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Not really, if you haven't 'bought it back' from the insurance company.
Was the car written off for economic reasons? If so, might be worth buying it back (for a few hundred quid) and strip it for parts.
In fact, if it's still mechanically sound, it's more than worth it. The insurance company will make about £400-500 scrapping it. You should be able to buy it back for similar (but you'll need somewhere to keep it that isn't on the public road). The insurance company then pays you anything above that value that is agreed as the replacement value.
Congratulations on replacing it though. I know how awful it feels to lose a car you love :beer:0
