http://www.speedbit.com/ I used this one in the past I found it quite good.0

The 'free' version of Download Accelerator Plus is, like Go!Zilla, supported by advertising. If you can put up with that, either one will suit. I've used the latter before and found it to be most useful.
Alternatively - if you're looking for a freeware download manager - there are several others you might consider.0 -
Why would you use a download accellerator?0

I've always used Speedbit's DAP and never been bothered in the slightest by the ads. I just add it to the 'ignore' lists in the various Adware scans I run.

Does this only improve downloads or will it also improve surfing? If not are there any free products to improve surfing? I have 2MB broadband but it's still a bit slow at times. Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -

Is this because you can't get broadband where you live? If you can get it, get it quick, unless you surf for a lot less than the monthly broadband subscription fee. And you don't need to cope with treacle-slow traffic.0 -

The consumer broadband packages bundle together many users, who have to share the available bandwidth. Some of the broadband providers have better packages than others. I have 2Mb with BT, and it's generally quite fast, any time of day or night. To the best of my knowledge, speed accellerators aren't useful on broadband connections.
Depending on where you live, you can also now get 8MB packages.
You can do a speed comparison of service providers on the ADSLGUIDE site (which has tons of other useful info)0 -

8mb isn't available in this semi-rural area. Broadband only arrived about 3 months ago. I normally get speeds of around 1.8mb which I am happy with as BT said the line will only support 1mb. I just thought if I could surf faster for free I would try. Google have a free web accelarator but they are not accepting subscriptions at the moment (server overload). Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -
@ Stabilo
The best speed tester for web surfing is here. Select how long you want it to run for (default is 30 seconds); the longer you run it the more representative it will be. You can also select 'World' (default) or 'UK only' websites.
Post back with your result.
