The most fun hen night I went on cost next to nothing. It was my friend and her fiance had gone off for the weekend on his stag do so she invited all the girlies round to stay for two nights and we had a bodyshop party, lots of drinks and nibbles and shopping the next day and it was great fun.
  • My hen night is costing a grand £12.45... We're using the reduced rate on here to go to jongleurs... (£5 in plus £1.50 pre-book and £5.96 for food booked in advance!) I am surprised how may people are up for it, there's going to be 16 of us going now!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • well if you dont have the money or dont want to do it just be honest, i had my hen weekend away becuase i enjoy going away and those that wanted to come and could afford it did and those that didnt want to come didnt, i didnt feel put out or resentful that they couldnt make it, i just organised a cheap night in after wards with pics and plenty of wine and good laughter for those friends/family that wanted to come round and catch up after.
i supplied all the games and done the hen party bags and printed up individual t shirts for all on the weekend and i paid for all that becuase it was what i wanted..
now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j
  • We had 3 beauty therapists come to my house for my hen night from a local salon,
i gave out price lists with the invits and everyone could pick no more than 3 treatments.
i think most people had 2 treatments and the indian head massage went down a treat.

i think £75 is a lot for a hen night if drinks and food ect are not included
  • for mine I rented a big static caravan from a friend of a friend at £35night...six of us went for 2 nights a couple came on seperate nights and it was just a big sleepover and brilliant fun, we took all the food & booze with us (OH made lasagnes, pizzas etc) dvds/cds from our clubbing days
Worked out at less than £10 head for the weekend and we had a fantastic weekend in fact we're planning to do it again next year just for the hell of it, already started my booze stash:beer:
  • IMHO I think £75 is a bit steep and would never expect my friends to pay so much and I would much rather do something a bit cheaper and have more friends there.
I'm just going with 8 friends - bridesmaids, my mum and one of b'maids mum and two others - for a spa evening at centerparcs - £35 - but having a cheap pub meal the same weekend for anyone else who wants to join us - courses about £10-£15 at most -so will still having a big party cheaper.
And I wouldn't be offended if any of the bridesmaids didn't want to do the spa and I only booked it because everyone thought that it was good value and was happy too.
Maybe the bride hasn't considered she might exclude a lot of people, not thinking that they too will be spending for outfits/presents/drinks for the wedding on top of this?
I would just be honest about it and say you can't afford it at the moment and like others have suggested see if you can go along but not have any treatments, and maybe take some food/drink to contribute to the occasion.
  • I'm one of the 3 Maids of Honours for my best friend's wedding and we've just sent out the invite for her hen night later on this month.

We've decided to go to a decent restaurant (not the Ritz, but not McDonald's), avg £55 a head plus drinks & service charge. Afterwards, we're going to karoeke at a private venue. For one evening, it'd be a surprise if we get any change out of £100 each before having to pay for a cab/ arrange for our OH to pick us up in a drunken disgrace!

I had wanted to organise a slightly cheaper do, but the other 2 MoHs insisted on a nice restaurant and karoeke place in Central London.

I'm tempted to just do the cheaper karoeke part, as I can't really afford the expensive dinner with my job hanging on the balance due to the the way the market is at the moment!! But I can't really not go, as the bride to be is my best friend!!

Just wanted to empathise with the original poster!

I went into debt to go to my mest friend's hen night, we also had to pay for OH to go on her man's stag do too, both to Amsterdam for the weekend, had to buy passports, cost us about £400 alltogether, for a weekend that to be honest wasn't that much fun!
But I love her and that's what she wanted. THough for my hen night we stayed in and drank champagne while playing singstar! Didn't have to navigate my way through a foreign city while drunk and the worse for other things so I actually had more fun there!

I agree with this. I am going away for my hen do with eight of my friends as it's what I and they wanted to do. If they said they didn't or couldn't want to go then I would have changed my mind and stayed at home doing something but they were all up for it and they are all close friends. I have also been away for weekends for two of theirs in the last couple of years. I would never be offended if anyone turned round and said they couldn't come or they didn't want to, likewise I would do the same.

I will be having a more low key night out back home just before the wedding for other friends and family members.
