Hi all I have been desperately trying to sell my Car for a while now and I have had no interest at all. My Car is a Renault Megane CC, 56 plate with 6500 miles on the clock. I have got it advertised in Auto trader where I have previously had quite good success in selling Cars but I feel like I need to do a little more. Can anyone suggest any other good places to list a Car for sale or give me any other advice.

I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi - what about putting an advert in the local paper shop window, or on the board at your local supermarket?

I wonder whether you've over-estimated the price in Autotrader and that's why it's not selling - ? Have a search for similar cars for sale in a 40 mile radius and see if they're similarly priced as that may provide your answer.

cars arent selling very well at the moment, in laws have a Citroen C5 55 plate low mileage and were offered only £750 for trade in at 3 or 4 garages.

    You could try ebay

Hi there. I don't think its overpriced and I have been reducing the price reguarly. I am cheaper than other cars of its age and in line with what Parkers guide says. I am willing reduce the price more though but I want to make sure that I am getting it seen in enough places also.

No interest at all suggests either something is wrong with the advert or the price is too high. Have you included pictures on autotrader?

    Plus another vote for ebay.
  • have you considered putting a sign in one of the side windows of the car itself aswell? i don't know if these actually lead to any sales per say, but i've noticed quite a few recently on my walk home from work.

Well nationally there are 226 Megane CC's out there on the autotrader website under 10,000 miles. So there is a good selection to choose from.
2005 1.6 Dynamique with 10,000 is cheapest at £7800 all the way upto £19000!

Is yours the one at £10499?

There are similar ones to yours circa £8500.

Car price at £5k + is quite and even very difficult to sell at the moment. Unless the price of your car is alot less than others then its so difficult to sell. Just to give u my situation when I was looking for a small car sub £1k. It took me 2 months to buy a fiesta 1.25 , p-reg for £600, the seller had £1000 in the car window (which is not realistic). Seller advertise for 800 on gumtree then drop it to 700 and I offered 600 over the phone. I'm quite savvy when buying cars, I must get what I consider a good deal for me or I walk away. Goodluck with your sale.

Thanks for your comments. I have looked on Autotrader and there only seems to be 1 Megane CC on sale for £8500 and that is 18 months older than mine with 2500 more miles on the clock.

Yes mine is the 1 on for £10499. I appreciate that it may need to go for less and would be willing to negotiate but I don't want to list it too low. Mine still have almost 18 months warranty etc.

I've just done a search on Autotrader and there over 100 Megane cc's, and it's page 7 of the results before the price reached £10.5K. I've seen 2005 1.9 and 2.0 models for £8.5K.
If I was looking to buy a Megane cc then I'd save myself 2K and buy a 2.0 model from 04.

So the price is probably the reason it isn't shifting.

A few thousand miles aren't going to make much difference IMO.
    Happy chappy
