I would really like a 3 bedroom house so if i tell them that there will be three people staying there, will they take that into account? I can say me and my wife and her sister will be staying there. What evidence or proof do they ask for? The main reason is that i am planning on having a kid soon and would really like to prepare before hand for this rather have to find a bigger house somewhere down the line.

Yea, fraud is always a great idea! I hope you're joking!

If your wife's sister is an adult they would need her payslips etc too, her name would probably be on the mortgage too, and of course if she's employed the mortgage would be calculated with 3 people paying rather than 2, so if your wife also works if you do have a child, paying for a mortgage based on three people's wages could be very hard...

If she "moved out" you might be forced to sell. Just don't try it, you could end up in very hot water and I (and everyone else here who followed the rules) will have little sympathy!

Besides, you can get a 2 bed, and a child shouldn't need more than one bedroom. 2 children can share for a while. Stop being greedy or save up like everyone else! If you are deperate enough to resort to fraud rather than saving a deposit, how on earth will you pay for a child??

I wasn't trying to commit fraud although Reading back on my post I can see how it sounds. I just wanted to know if there was a legal way to get 3 bedrooms as I understand this rule is new and people who bought on scheme early on were not restricted in this way.

Also in my situation the area I am in doesn't have any two bed houses, all are three bed or more so it brings a few problems for me.

We are in the same position, we have ended up going to the other end of town, at least a mile outside of our original search area to comply with the rules.

The only way to get round it would be to get pregnant now. Otherwise you play by the rules or risk gettin caught and losing a lot of money.

Remember even a very small room that is described as a 'study' by the EA could be seen as a bedroom by the surveyor and if this is the case you wouldn't get the funding, so you must be careful.

Phone them, you will get an answer straight away. Even if they had an email, there'd be no guarantee of a reply.

Got ANOTHER letter today from ownhome, asking me to make an appointment to have my eligibility assessment, despite having one in April and having fundng secured...Hmmm!

Dont worry. Its not fraud if they're going to be living at the property. The organisation will want proof that the person exists by getting certain bits of documentation from the others like ID and bank statements etc.

Just call em up and see what they say.

The bit that had me thinking it was fraud was the bit that said:

That kind of implies she wouldn't be...

Finally got my letter through yesterday-14 weeks to the very day since going on the ownhome waiting list! have the financial interview next week so will keep you all posted!
  • I was told yesterday that the current wait for a telephone interview is 11 weeks, so we have to wait till end of June :(
We made an offer on a house 7 weeks ago (before be knew about the waiting list), we immediately told estate agent that we were were going to have to wait 8 weeks (what we were originally told). The owner still accepted the offer and house is listed as Sold STC. Great! BUT estate agent is getting twitchy :(

SO scared we're going to lose the house and there just arn't many to chose from that we can afford as we need 4 bedrooms minimum.

    Just venting........
