Discounts for MOT's- Know of any?
I've got to get my old banger MOT' ed. I found a 15% off voucher for Kwik Fit at the Auto Trader website but after getting excited found out it is valid till 30th April 2007! Very annoying.
Anyone know of any VALID discounts for an MOT's out there on the Internet 'cos at the moment the MOT costs more money than the value of my car!

I somehow doubt it, scrap value is around the £100 mark, MOT is around the £50 mark.;)0

Ok- you're right, maybe I was over exaggerating a little about the value of my car. Still looking for any MOT deals though. It is getting very expensive with the servicing, MOT test and the insurance!0 -
One thing to watch out for, if they arent making as much money from you on the MOT, then they might be inclined to do work to the car that isnt required (or at least charging you for it)0

You have to pay for an MOT anyway, no matter what the value of your car. I'm always suspicious that cheap MOT means they'll fail it unnecessarily to generate a bit of work for themselves.0

You have to do a lot of phoning around to find your best local MOT price. Prices can be as low as £20 (a saving of £35 straight away). When you ask them make sure to ask also how much a retest will be if you return the vehicle within 10 working days (2 weeks), it should be no more than half the original fee, but could be free.0

I pay £42 for my MOT in a local small independent garage. They aren't interested in doing work and I know they won't unnecessarily fail it. Plus they're easier to get booked in with than the local authority test centre where you have to book a month or more in advance. I also know they're good at prioritising re-tests for bookings but I guess that's for the £21 retest fee
Might try somewhere else one day but I know I can trust this garage and it's probably easier to pay £63 than risk paying £25 and being told it needs x work doing and they're happy to do it for £x.0 -
I agree that if you're car is that bad it is probably best to scrap it and get a new one. But if you still want some discounts I've found a few.
www.nationwideautocentres.co.uk offer 10% off if you sign up to their newsletter and book online.
www.oakhill-garage.co.uk offer up to £45 off on the service and MOT if you quote "WEBSITE DEAL" when making the booking. This is only valid till the end of September.
www.merityre.co.uk has a voucher you can print off for 10% discount on your MOT.
www.merityre.co.uk is the best because the have vouchers you can print off for all sorts of things like discounts on exhausts, brakes and free wheel alignment check.
These are only first I found after doing a search on Google but I'm sure there are lots more deals out there. Hope it helps. :beer:0 -
once youv had anything done with National Tyres, u will get a voucher for a £35 MOT.
Isnt it funny how if you get your car serviced, and get a MOT at the same time (Where they dont do their own MOTs) they always say "We cant get anything off we have to pay full price"? Yeh, right.0 -
If you were thinking of joining one of the rescue service services rac was offering something like 25% off mots with one offer, but then again i just joined aa for the equivalent of £15 one vehicle (under 10 years old),thats hard to beat.
Have a look at hukd-there is a voucher there for National tyres 50% off mots etc at selected branches.0 -
