Yes BT will tie you into 12 months BUT, they have to provide a service,
If as your ADSL checker states you should be able to get up to 6.5 Mbs
If however it's always dropping out then BT are in Breach of contract for not providing the service so i think you would be well with in your rights to cancel
They don't have to provide a service at that speed though! If your speed was only say 600Kb, it would be within limits.

If however it is just slow speeds you are getting i agree with expresso to a certain degree that up to 8Mbs could be as low as 600Kbs0 -
I can't understand why anyone would sign up with any ISP rated so badly by it's customers, when there are many better ones to choose from! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I think they do it for an easy life. Just checked with the ASDL24 and I would have to move over my BT line again and therefore incurr the massive £164.00 cancellation fee that they like charging people. Is it possible to keep a BT line and pay someone else to supply the BB without transferring lines over. Hope this isnt a stupid question. Really liked the look of the ASDL24 and they had high rating too. BT have such a monopoly on lines I cant believe it is legally allowed!!!0

You do not 'have to move over your BT line again' as ADSL24 supplies it's broadband over a BT line! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

you tried seeing what speed virgin would provide or are you not in a cable areaNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
Espresso, sorry I thought this - Migrating to us should happen with no downtime. If BT come across any problems there may be a delay - in which case you will be notified via e-mail or telephone - meant that I would have to move lines again, i had to do the same when I tried out Talk Talk, hence the start of the cancellation fee fight. I am not clued up in the ways of BB providers so please forgive any stupidness on my part.
Ronaldo -No cable either, you would think i ws living in the sticks and not in a city wouldnt you ? ;-)0 -

I think that you need to read up a bit on the provision of broadband. Migrating is moving from one ISP to another ISP on the same line. The last time that I migrated, I lost broadband for seven whole minutes! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
So, in laymans terms and for someone who knows nothing about the provision of broadband, if I joined up to ASDL24 I would just pay them for the BB and continue paying BT for line rental and calls? Like the look of ASDL24, especially the 1 month contract. I could live without broadband for 7 whole minutes especially when we have been used to not having it at all, or only for 5mins max.0
