So what does it give for the predicted speed when you click on the BT ADSL button? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Most telephone lines were originally put in by BT and IMHO they are better at getting thing fixed than any of the other ISP's
BT retail simply instruct BT Openreach to investigate any line problems, just like any other ISP does. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Sorry, bit of a duh!!
Didnt check the speed, but I have now, see info below:
ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services
According to BT Wholesale, your phone line should be able to support a 6.5Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max.
Standard ADSL RAG results
You can receive 2Mbps ADSL
You can receive 1Mbps ADSL
You can receive 512kbps ADSL
You can receive 256kbps ADSL
You are approximately 466 metres from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer
Is 6.5Mbps any good?
Thanks Lee, I think i will give your advice a go, to go with the Option1, if it is poor like you said they can hopefully fix it, if they cant in the short term, i will see about cancelling it.
Thanks guys, you have been absoulute stars!!

agreed but they will have a better relationship with open reach as its still part of BT
:rotfl:
Urban myth! There are hundreds of ISP's that will provide ADSL over a BT line e.g. some here with ratings here where you will see BT very near the bottom of customers ratings!

Ps.
This was on the info page too.
Does anyone know what this means?
19/10/2006BT have set a target date of Q3 2009 for the switch to 21CN for the Provanmill exchange
It kinda looks like an upgrade, but next year!!!!

You will be tied into a 12 month minimum contract period with BT broadband! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
All confused again, so many providers so little connection. Dont want all the hassle of signing up then cancelling, it is always me that has to deal with the 'crap' phonecalls! ;-)0

Dont fancy that at all. BT are such gits!!! I checked the availability of other providers and ADSL24 seem to be ranked high in the ratings espresso linked. Going to have a sneaky look into it as lunchbreak is officially over!!0 -
Yes BT will tie you into 12 months BUT, they have to provide a service,
If as your ADSL checker states you should be able to get up to 6.5 Mbs
If however it's always dropping out then BT are in Breach of contract for not providing the service so i think you would be well with in your rights to cancel0
