Help please, I have never purchased a mobile phone before and my old payg one has died.I am looking to get a contract phone now but have no idea of what sort of phone to get. I would like one which takes decent pictures and gies some texts and calls each month.

Orange is out of the question as their range is terrible where I live. I saw in a magazine offers for vodafone but there is a choice of 6 phones and I just don't have a clue

Does anyone have any recommendations please, am open to all offers

Out of those six I would go for the Samsung Tocco or the Sony Ericsson C902, as they are the latest handsets out. The C902 has the better camera of the two.

What was your old mobile phone? Did you like it? Which features did you really like? It might be you can replace the handset for little cost and be happy with that. It might be you will be unhappy if it is not a clam-shell or a slide phone. Or you could want the latest and greatest handset.

How much did you use you use your phone? Did it cost you a lot in buying credit? Was your use constant or sporadic? Which features did you use the most? SMS? MMS? Mobile web? There's no point taking out a contract if you are not going to use it - it just doesn't make economic sense.

I'm not saying don't take a contract and get a new phone, but I am saying that it is not for everyone and what suits one person may not suit you - my Mum would certainly be lost with an N95 and I would probably not like the C902 at all, even if it is the most fashionable thing going. If you specify what you want, people on here will usually chime in with fantastic deals and offers you may not have seen yet that perfectly suit you.

Thanks my old phone is a nokia camera phone, no idea of the model, my mum doesn't have a landline now so I am putting quite a bit credit on each month. The most important thing is a decent camera and I would like some quidco money or some nice incentive. Max money a month is £30 really. I am with O2 payg and am happy with them but also wlling to go elsewhere if they are reliable.
