Reducing monthly contracts

Can anyone offer any help/advice? My 18 year old has signed up for an eighteen month contract of £40.00. She is not earning a great deal and this is far too much for her to pay. We have contacted T Mobile but have been told she cannot change until she is eleven months into her contract. As she only took this out in June (one month after her Birthday) this is too long to wait. Does anyone out there know of a way she could get this reduced? Would appreciate any advice/help we can get. Thank you

Having read a lot of threads like this on the forum, I'm afraid the answer is going to be "a contract is a contract, and she signed it when she reached the age of 18 and so it is binding". I'm afraid that the networks are not at all sympathetic to any circumstances for downgrading accounts.
Sorry to sound harsh, but she will have to take this as a big lesson in not over commiting financially- at least it is "only" £40/month for a phone, not several hundred for a car or what have you.
She will have to budget a bit to afford it and make sure she does down grade as soon as she can possibly do so.0 -
Presumably the reason for the £40 per month was to get a 'good' phone as well.
She could try selling that and replacing it with the cheapest replacement she can and she if she can get some money back like like (if its for example an N95 or similar).
The alternative solution (I only know this works on Orange) is for her to transfer her contract to someone else, who would make use of the £40 per month tariff, she might had to offer an incentive though [not sure how sucessful this would be in reality as most people would probably just get a new contract of their own - but maybe someone else in the extended family might do this?]0 -
have she called and explained the situation and tried switching to a cheaper tariff?

ignoring the nudge nudge wink wink incitment to fraud - so what if it is, insurance won't cancel the need to continue paying the contract, it'll cover a lost phone, sim and unauthorised calls it won't cover 18 months of contract payments though0
