  • SEL is self edge label and MOC is money off coupon, I believe.

    Seriously, what's SEL and MOC???

    I honestly have no idea!

And I thought Tesco had stoped "DTD" a long time ago??

    SEL - shelf edged label
    MOC - money off coupon

    (I think)

DTD (double the difference) is the policy that replaced the 'refund and retain' (RnR) policy. With RnR if you were overcharged, you would get the price of the item fully refunded and get to keep the item too (some people were getting XBox's etc for free which I think is one of many reasons why they changed it).

Now you get double the difference back (e.g. overcharged by 20p you would get 40p back). Doesn't cost Tesco's as much as the previous RnR policy !

Hope that makes sense ! (I confused myself for a while then - not hard to do ! lol)

When a debit card transaction goes through your account the machine dials through for an authorisation code, it also marks the funds ready for the transaction to be processed. If there is an error or the sale was not completed the transaction is not paid out by the bank and this mark drops off of your clearing the funds back to your account. The bank does not pay the funds on a debit immediately, the processing is usually 3/4 days.

Unfortunately it can take up to 10 days for errors to drop off so this will inconvenience you by keeping these funds reserved until they automatically go back onto your balance.

My guess is the transaction that was phoned though will be paid and the initial incorrect transaction will cancel itself in time.

this thread is BARE JOKESSSSSS :D

Good luck OP with that refund... sounds scammish to me.... as you wont have the receipt of proving the transaction to back up your story... all you'll have is your bank statement which shops now like to refuse.

Wrong, if this happens then OP can dispute the transaction with their bank, also the duplicate transaction only a few minutes later will be on the banks systems with a manual telephone authorisation this will indicate there was a problem for tesco to call in the first place.

Money doesn't come out of your account that quickly.
I shop at Tesco's and use my Debit Card and it never comes out the same day.I've done a major shop early this afternoon and have just checked my bank account and it's not showing up yet.

Depends on your bank Francesanne, all of my transactions that are paid by debit card come out straight away (I have automated telephone banking, online and it even shows up on the cashtill). I have checked with my bank today and they have taken two transactions but I'm hoping one will 'drop off' as has been suggested. I checked with the bank about how long debit card transactions take to show up and they clarified that they show up on my account immediately.

Quick update ...... Tesco did take 2 transactions  . One of them was what they call a 'ghost' transaction. They take this amount (in addition to the correct amount) while the 'real' transaction amount clears on their system, which was today.

So, for 3 days, my bank balance has been £30 less than it should be (thank god I didn't do a big shop !) and I have had NO access to the money. It should, they say, go back in tomorrow.

Just wanted to warn other people about these 'ghost transactions' and double the transaction amount disappearing from bank accounts until they put it back in ! (I have since found out that the same thing has happened to lots of other people !) Just glad I didn't go overdrawn and end up with bank charges !

On a lighter note ...... went to a different SA at the same store today (wanted to get my free Walkers crisps lol). This was the store where I was told earlier on this week that NO money off coupons are accepted whatsoever ! I handed over 5 small coupons and the SA took them all and didn't bat an eyelid ! Had to smile on my way out after my 'bad shop' earlier on in this particular store.
