  • We used quite a lot of them during holidays at our pool and we had some left over that we were going to use soon but after reading this i went on to Kellogg's site and now our pool is off the list of ones participating too. :(

    Hello,

I have only just come across this thread, as I was searching to see if anyone had seen the Free Swim packs anywhere

Did anyone get a response from Kellogg's??

My local pool is still listed on the Pool Locator (it is a council pool), but it is disgusting for any pools not to now accept the vouchers - they were all bought in good faith - really it is Kellogg's fault in my opinion.

We visited our local Council pool on Saturday and we told they are only accepting the vouchers for 2 weeks as Kellogg's have not paid them out - I was told they have lost thousands.

I have emailed the following to them, from the contact pages of there website and suggest everyone does the same - like I have said in the email, there are plenty more cereal makes that we can purchase instead of Kellogg's.

I am so annoyed and disguisted - we all bought these packs in good faith!

    Re: Free Swim.

I am absolutely disgusted about this offer. We stocked up on a few boxes, only to visit our local baths at the weekend to find out they are only accepting vouchers for a further 2 weeks, as Kellogg's are not paying out for the offer. We were told that they have lost thousands. I know this to be true as there is a discussion about it on the forums of moneysavingexpert.com. This is absolutely disguisting as we, and many, many others bought these boxes of cereals in good faith. My local pool, even today, is still listed on your website, so had I not visited, or read about it on the forums, I would still be trying to buy these special packs of cereal. I also would class this as false advertising as the vouchers say they are valid until April 2009. In this day and age, we can all easy buy alternative cereal to Kellogg's.
  • i went for a swim today and for the first time was asked to wear a rubber band around my wrist, like some sort of pariah, to indicate that I was not a member of the private club! Reading others' posts may be this is the first step to being banned! How can Kelloggs allow the break in contract?

I've engaged in correspondence with Kelloggs, the local pool and the local paper (made the letters page, now a proper grumpy old git) since our pool decided that they would no longer honour the vouchers.

It appears that Kelloggs never comitted to paying for pool entry. They simply negotiated to put the vouchers on their products to promote swimming and the pools agreed to this when they signed up to the scheme. The problem seems to be the success of the scheme. Our local pools had somewhere in the region of 5,000 extra swimmers in a 6 month period (between 3 pools) and they didn't like this. Claimed that they had lost £15,000 odd in revenue, when this was clearly not the case as each pool simply had a dozen or so swimmers in the pool every day. Swimmers that more than likely would not have been there were it not for the vouchers.

So down to curmodgeonly swimming pool opperators rather than Kelloggs, who to their credit sent me a £20 cheque by way of apology. The pools signed up for a year and many have now opted out. Seems rotten as if they feel that they made a mistake by signing up to the scheme then so be it. Why should those that abided by the rules of the scheme lose out on swimming for not only themselves but more likely their children. Wish I had the time and cojones to pursue it legally.
