the current process is to transfer your number at the time of connection. as you have stated you are doing your connection through a 3rd party supplier then i would advise checking with them however, vodafone don't have any service to port in a number after the point of connection.
i needed i would advise returning the agreement within 14 days and re process the agreement with your PAC
thanks

James,
Have just noticed your name as james_vodafone
Do you work for Vodafone? If you do then you need to get permission from the board guides before giving advice.0 -

is it just me, or is this the most ludicrous idea ever? given that there is a 14 day cooling off period with vodafone, why would i want to transfer my existing number (and end my service provision from the other network) until i've decided that i want to continue with vodafone? i really don't know where this idea of vodafone having excellent customer service comes from...
apologies for hijacking the thread0 -
I also bought my new N96 online from Mobile Phones Direct which arrived today, at no point in the checkout process did I get a chance to enter the PAC number I had obtained from T-Mobile.
I rang Vodafone assuming it would be a formality to Port my old number across, they said they do not accept PAC numbers from these 3rd party internet suppliers and that I should have entered my PAC at time of purchase. They're only advice was to return the phone under the 14 day rule and re-purchase another phone direct from Vodafone - very helpful
Surely this is a restrictive practice, I really need to keep my number as I have given it out to numerous clients and circulated my CV showing this number. Has anybody else been able to get around this issue ??0 -
UPDATE: I spoke to Ofcom and the regulations around porting numbers are really in place to ensure that providers let you take your number when you leave, there is no obligation on the part of the receiving or new company to accept your PAC number, so Vodafone can legitimately refuse.
The person I spoke to said "unofficially" that the other main providers are generally more flexible than Vodafone and normally accept PAC numbers without any issues.0 -
When I ported from Voda to O2 I was allowed 30 days after the start of the contract to get my PAC code and transfer the number. The man without a signature.0

I cant see why not our official stand at Orange is that we will accept a PAC code from another network for anything upto 6 months from when you join with us.
(unoficially ive seen packs completed, 4 years into life!)
I obviously cant state the voda policy but cant see it been any differant0 -

Any luck sorting this out. I was looking at this site - I rang them and was told that I could port from Orange as long as I emailed my PAC code to them. This seemed odd as the webiste says that you enter the code as part of the checkout process0
