I agree that it does seem an underhand way to go about things, and I can't believe that they dont tell you they're going to run a credit check!!!!
If they're "selling" you a store card they shouldnt be saying they'll invoice you in six weeks, but I guess that's how underhand they have to be these days...0 -

I advise you all to be very careful if purchasing in comet and they ask if you want to pay in six weeks.
You could always be arsey and say, Yes, good point, I would like to wait 6 weeks before paying...and then hand over your own credit card.0 -
My daddy nearly got an Outfit store card as he was asked if he wanted to save 10% (of course!) and if he wanted some free vouchers. The woman never mentioned it was a store card!
I have taken out store cards on this basis just to get the 10%. I then paid off the whole balance and destroyed the card. After you've had the once-off 10% discount, the card has no value.0
