Thank you for that. I will definitely be avoiding them in future......0

Recently went on carrrentals.co.uk and noticed the site has changed a lot. Having been a MSE recommended comparison site, over the years they have provided the best prices from many sites.
However, recent changes have been a step backwards. The site no longer compares a large number of sites including the likes of ebookers, expedia, auto europe etc. Also, only allows direct booking via their site now rather than taking you to the provider who gave the price.
Just think the MSE need to review the recommended sites for comparisons as carrrentals.co.uk is no longer a good one!!If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0 -
Tip I thought I would share for booking car hire:
I booked two cars for our holiday in France yesterday and did extensive research. I found that if I used .com for the carrentals site instead of the co.uk I was quoted in dollars and it came out significantly cheaper. One car I booked through Avis and the other through Alamo. Both are pay at the desk on arrival in the local currency.0 -

Im wondering if anyone has had the experience with Gold Car .....
Yes- you and over four hundred thousand other unhappy punters who forgot to check reviews first; 450,000 complaints on Google- including one here
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2744712
and thousands on Tripadvisor, such as

Moral; google BEFORE you book; hundreds of thousands of whingers can’t be wrong? Goldcar are so confident of a constant flow of complaining mugs that they employ a bot called Victoria R who responds with emollient PR messages for Goldcar.
Less cynically and more helpfully, there is an excellent Tripadvisor post with advice about car hire in Spain, from another forum, but relevant, by a regular contributor called Ceejayblue; #1 at

SO- IN SUMMARY
Check reviews before you book- don't complai because you didn't!
Better luck next time- we rent several times a year and have never been scammed in over 50 rentals by doing due diligence FIRST0 -

Does anybody have experience of using their partners credit card for deposit?
Most terms say the card has to be in the lead drivers name.
She doesn't want to drive, but my credi card only has a small credit limit.
Are they really fussy about this?
Cheers0 -

Can you not get your partner to add you as an additional card holder?0 -

They will charge the deposit, but only check for available funds for the excess. Am i right in thinking I will therefore need something in the region of £2200 available on my credit card to be able to collect this vehicle?
Also, obviously the cheaper options are with companies such as GoldCar. Should I be avoiding these at all costs, is it really worth paying 2-3 times more to go with companies like Hertz or Enterprise?
Malagacar.com
Used these 2 times now. They are very busy & its a shuttle to the office (about 5 mins). We had bought & paid separate ins before (as per MSE info) and absolutely no question's or sell ups on arrival. We were in the office for 20 mins max, really efficient, friendly staff.0
