Definitely get him to ring up the university if he doesn't get the grades. Alternatively, one of my friends got into a redbrick and a much sought-after course after failing to reach her grades by getting one of our teachers to ring them!

Good luck! I remember this time of year- it's terrifying!

If you don't get in (because the grades aren't what were required) then ring the university.

Most of them will open their phone lines around 8.30 and remember they had the grades in advance so you can ring them before the school publishes the results - they will have already made all the decisions for existing applicants (and entered them into the UCAS system).

I had forgotten DS2 could possibly check UCAS before going to get his results ... Ho hum, he's gone to bed now, so I'll have to see if I remember to tell him this before he sets out.

He's fairly confident he'll get the grades he needs, and doesn't have an insurance offer, but he says he'll take a year out if it's all gone pear-shaped ...

Savvy_Sue I hope your son gets the place he wants.

The UCAS tracking at the moment says:
    Track your progress

We are updating Track at the moment in preparation to go live on Thursday morning (14 August 2008). Please check back later. Thanks for your patience.

So DS2 has gone back to bed!

    Hi soolin,

Tracking is live now. My daughter has got her first choice, just phoned her (she's on holiday in Spain) and she's delighted. I hope both you and Savvy Sue get good news too.
