Lump some to invest

It is important to know the distinction. Someone saying they want to invest could quite easily be directed to investment products rather than savings products. So, knowing what they really want is important.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I agree with dunstonh on this very important point.
There is a world of difference between saving (no risk to your capital) and investing (inherent potential to lose all your capital).
It is true that many people use the term invest when they actually mean save.
However I don't think that many really wishing to invest would use the word save - and anyone who does so should perhaps not even be considering it as they obviously don't appreciate the very big difference.0
