Hi movingonup.
It's no big deal not to have a mortgage. especially at the moment. You are on a dmp for the next four years. that will go so quickly.
the alternative is gamble and be on a dmp for the next 20 years. i know which i would choose.
while you are not gambling your debts will only go down. i never heard anyone say that since they stopped their life has got worse.

Hi Riq,
try not to be too hard on yourself. Remember how far you've come and be proud. Regardless of what anyone else thinks. Sounds like you need some "me" time.
Take care xxLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -

Aug 15th we agreed to let her manage the cards and money, put me on a weekly cash spending plan. NO more gambling or she'd be gone forever

Good morning everyone. Sorry I have not posted on here for a while. I have been busy at work and getting things sorted in my life. Have always taken a few minutes each day to read the new posts and I am really pleased to see so many people staying clean. I have had my ups and downs, but more ups recently than downs. To those that are just starting out, I can only re-itterate what has already been said. One day at a time, one step at a time.
Today marks 215 days clean. Am proud of this achievement, but wary that I am still a compulsive gambler, and that one bet is too many.
Stay clean everyone0 -
Hi folks, time's come for me to give up gambling. I'll be following this thread daily and hoping to regain some control over our finances by staying clean.
Brief intro;
I got into gambling about 6yrs ago whilst working at a bookies. I'd never placed a bet in my life before getting the job, and I'm currently £30k down (conservative estimate) and seem to have an addictive personality.
If I wasn't gambling, I was either boozing or taking drugs.
My partner is expecting our 1st child in 6months time so it's time to sort my/our lives out. I haven't touched any drug in 6 months, and only have a drink once/twice a week, but still a compulsive gambler.
(Just been to the bookies today to place a £30 bet on tonights football; but win or lose it will be my last ever bet)
I should've deposited the £30 into our baby fund, but I didn't. I feel ill and I'm hating myself so much.
Well done to all the ex gamblers who've managed to stay clean and all the best to would be ex gamblers.
It's going to be a long hard journey, but I'm sure It will be worthwhile.
