Link from the OU website (its there for all to see) - nothing shady...
Now I'm going to bow out of this one - I followed the same rules as everyone else. Good Luck CIS

So is your second degree being taken to retrain in another area? Could I ask what subject you are studying?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I'm doing courses that I'm going to count towards the Open Bsc (I've got enough pts now but could hold off for an honours degree)I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

What are you planning to study at the "bricks and mortar" university?0

Probably the Human Genetics degree or the Biochemistry with immunologyI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. I would imagine that you would be able to get the usual student loans (fees/maintenance) and grant as any other student if you didn't have them for your first degree. You would obviously have to come off benefits (or change them if you are disabled....).
Not sure if there is something of a grey area with you having been funded (through th OU though) for your OU degree.
Not much help am I? But my first instinct is that you would/should (technically) be eligible.Blonde: Unemployed: Bankrupt.
What do I know?

What is your OU degree in, CIS? If it's related to either Human Genetics or Biochemistry with Immunology, then I expect you'd be able to cash in all or some of your OU credits so that you go into university with a CertHE or DipHE already, then get normal funding for the remainder of the course. Definitely contact the university(ies) that you want to apply to and ask them about it. I used to work at a university years ago and we did this all the time. Once you've been accepted, you just apply for the usual student loans etc.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Its a mix (Open Bsc) - mainly science but covering everything from chemistry to planetary science to genetics to infectious diseases. Also done accountancy cert and a programming course.
Ive already got 2 certs of HE in science subjects, another on the way and an accountancy cert finishing soon.
What I was looking at , if I could get the funding, is to a degree at a bricks and mortar uni as well as having my OU degree.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. You would not usually get funding through the SLC to do an Hons degree if you already have one, albeit from the OU.
I'm not sure about an ordinary degree xGone ... or have I?0 -
Thats what I thought - I may just take the ordinary OU degree for nowI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. I managed to find an email address for a person at my L/A last night and emailed them with the query over funding . I got a reply this morning saying that as long as it was an ordinary degree and not an honours degree then I should get funding no problem.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
