Bell's might be all right to buy from, I don't know as I didn't buy my renault from them but as far as servicing and repairs go, they seem to just think of a number and a high one at that.

Can you recommend a good servicing garage? I was going to get the car serviced before selling it and was going to bring it to Bells
David James aint got nothing on me

Your wasting your money. The garage will not allow you the full cost of a recent retail service. They can service it at trade price, much cheaper prior to its resale by them.

If its an old car the same rule applies unless your selling privately and want to impress a buyer
  • I wouldn't go near Charles Hurst with a bargepole. I went to Roadside Motors in Lisburn and dealt with a guy called Jeff. He's very laid back, not your usual dodgy car salesman. I traded in and got a lot more than I had expected. Also very happy with the car and the aftersales service.
I totally Agree.I used to work there. Disgraceful...........

i recently purchased a car from sere and they seemed ok.
Found that te lisburn branch was far better than the boucher road one - it has far more stock and they only seem to want to sell you a new car at boucher otherwise it is a grind for them.
Heard the negative charles hurst story from many people including 2 taxi drivers - the mallusk branch is only 5 mins away and has a lot of cars to choose from but all the negative feedback put me off.
  • Think about it.
A dealer has large overheads to cover, which impacts the bottom line on his cars.

The REAL deals are to be had from the trade boys.

I can vouch for this one (Chris) in particular- here

Superb service, after sales and professional approach thoughout. He always carries an excellent value stock of cars; well looked after, with full servicing, before turning them to the public. Accepts trade-ins and most importantly gives a fair price.
An all round class act to deal with. Grab yourself a REAL bargain!!:D
  • Anyone still looking for a car would be hard pressed to find anywhere better than Ralph Patterson Cars, Trailcock Road, Carrickfergus http://www.ralphpattersoncars.co.uk/

Ralph or Simon will look after you really and what is even better (in my opinion) is the absolutley fantastic after sales you get from them.

I have to agree, I just bought from them recently and they were far better than any dealer I've used in the past, really first class.

  • In about February I approached Lindsay Ford (the main ford dealership in NI) and was looking for info about getting a new Ford S-Max (titanium). LF quoted me £22,000 and said they had very little room for manoeuve on the price (i think £50 was the price mentioned!!). I shopped around the mainland and found the exact same car for 17,000 from a Ford dealer in Blackpool. 5K cheaper!!

I flew by the now defunct manx airline to blackpool got the dealer to pick me up, bought the car drove straight to Liverpool jumped on the ferry and was back in Belfast the next morning!!

Welcome to Ford NI a true 'rip off merchant operation'. i just feel so sorry for those people driving around in Lindsay Ford motors who have paid well over the odds for their vehicle.

It does take a little b#lls to shop abroad (England) for such a big pricey item but in my case it was completly painless and I thoroughly recommend it.

Don't start me on Lindsays, their servicing is a rip off.

  • the best place to go is "westbury" on the corner between boucher road and tates avenue - very honest and has only good cars, in fact they survive mainly on fixing cars to people who have been buying off them for years - they rarely advertise.
I'm serious by the way - they really are amazing
