I have a mute button on my monitor. I dusted and turned it off by accident it was weeks before I found out what I'd done. :o

    Just an idea.

You should have RealTek "audio manager" on your p.c. It will ask you for to select varius configurations. Try some of them until your sound comes back. It's usually something to do with front/left/right speakers.

I know because I have panicked about this is the past! But believe me, unless it's a driver problem, it's much more likely to be a speaker setting issue.

    Good luck!

Had sound originally, but not had sound for about a year. Didn't matter then but now there are programmes where sound is essential.cannot remmeber if windows was reinstalled sometime ago?but we did have sound before.

My pc lost sound and it unfortunately turned out to be a worm. Some apparently lodge in the sound card (or something like that). We tried a complete re-install and the sound came back.
