No sound on pc

Hi i have no sound on my pc ,i have tried to download the sound card from realtek but still no joy,help someone in the no please?

Has it had sound before?

start>run>devmgmt.msc
if there is no driver for your sound card there will be a yellow icon on it.
right click, and click update driver

Had sound originally, but not had sound for about a year. Didn't matter then but now there are programmes where sound is essential.cannot remmeber if windows was reinstalled sometime ago?but we did have sound before.

Just to check the obvious, are you sure the speakers are plugged into the correct hole? Older PCs had the headphone and microphone jack right next to each other, and they weren't colour coded like they are now.

the speakers are in the screen so they are obviously attached so what esle can i do

erm could you tell me your brand of pc and the model please, and the Operating System, and i will try and find you a driver?!

just because the speakers are in the screen doesn't mean the speakers will work.......a cable from the graphics card to your screen doesn't tranfer sound!! only picture

you need an extra cable.....3.5mm jacks at both ends

The pc was built dont no make of tower,it is xp the monitor is HYUNDAI ,dont no what else to give you,my son looked in pc and the sound card is RTL 8101L i think.
