The Mystery Shopping thread - part 5

Well I've just done my three betting shop jobs. Two were easy to find but the third.....The one thing I forgot about the South Wales Valleys is.......there are HILLS!!! When I finally found the third shop it was on a hill surrounded by double yellow lines. I had to drive in circles for 5 mins to try and find a parking spot. When I eventually got in the shop I was the only one so I watched the Olympics for a few mins whilst I looked as if I was checking out the football odds!! I asked if I could use the loo but she explained that they only had a gents urinal and no actual loo. Now no disrespect to you lads but even I draw the line in checking out the mens loos when there isn't actually a loo in there - how weird would that have looked!! She did say I could use the loo in the pub across the road though so points for initiative. Anyway going to sit with a cup of tea and a biccy before entering my results - oh and I won £4.50 from a bet last week so that wasn't too bad.0

Hi everyone,
I'm one of the newbie's on here but am making good progress on my MS assignments. I've done 4 so far and have my first job for GAP on Friday - I've got a quick question about some posts I've seen about them adding new jobs.
They offer assignments for some well known places to eat and if you search by client you can then see which area's they require a Mystery Shop at.
Does anyone know if they do a mystery shop every month or is it every 3 months or so ? If for example you know of a nearby resturant is it likely that if it's not on the current list that it will be on the next months list ?
Just wondering so I don't get beaten to some free food !!!

Hi Manfred and welcome to our board. Various MS companies mystery shop at different times/dates. GYP seem to do the restaurant jobs every month. I know I've had pizza and burger jobs for two months running. If you keep checking GYP today they should come up with some jobs later on. If your looking for free food TNS do restaurant jobs for a certain brewery and they come out every month. HTH.0

I'm confused as to why you keep typing GYP and not GAP?
You put TNS and RE so what's the problem? Dodgy keyboard?
It is confusing newbies0 -

Do you know - I don't actually know!!! Noticed a few pages back that GAP had changed to GYP and as I hadn't had chance to catch up on a few pages I just reverted (teach me to catch up properly). I will now revert back now I know I haven't missed anything. Thanks for that x0 -
I thought it was intended as a slur - like, they cause you nothing but gyp! I don't even know if that's a proper word, but I'm sure I've heard it used as an expression for trouble.
Speaking personally, they've messed me around and been very slow to respond to emails - and have never apologised for messing up - and I've read other people saying they've been dropped like a stone for no apparent reason, so I figured it was just a sort of gentle insult.
Would be interesting to know the truth behind it, though.0 -
I think it was HP who created it - and I think it was because they're GYPsies....
(Not sure though!)0 -

Good thinking - but why are you here (nothing personal) - shouldn't you be up to your eyes with wedding stuff!! Hope all is going well and no-one is too stressed. Please tell me your off somewhere nice and hot for your honeymoon - at least someone will be having decent weather. Even the weather man on the local news said he wasn't going to bother telling people the weather as it was the same as last week lol.0 -
Yeah the weather does look a bit carp tbh. It's all inside for the day really anyway so it won't affect us too much; just the bit between the church and the reception we'll have to be careful with....
I'm at work so I have to lurk; how will I be ready to MS again when I'm back?! I need to keep up with the gossip
I'm off to South Africa for the honeymoon so that'll be nice and relaxing. Better still, there are no mystery shops there so I won't be tempted!0 -

South Africa - you lucky, lucky so and so - I am so jealous. Beliive me if it was a choice between doing MSing for GAP and holidaying in South Africa - hmmm which would I choose - tough choice lolHubby is off next week so hoping to take DD out for the day so praying weather is clear - one day is all I'm asking for!!! He's specifically told me no MSing next week - I don't rest very well, so he's keeping an eye on me!!!!
