  • sorry if this has been asked before but with RE - can I pay by credit card in a shop and they'll still reimburse me as long as I have the receipt?? I'm thinking of doing one today but only have my CC on me nd don't know if they'll accept that!

Also with RE there are a lot of assignments for a food/drink chain, I have done one already but loads keep coming up in my area and now the drinks only visits are as well, can you do more than one for the same chain?

Yes! - I think even the same place. Just book the ones you want to do and if they don't want you going again the system will tell you.

Yes, you can use cards, don't worry. I have never had a [problem with being reimbursed.

If you can see an assignment it means you can accept it. If you have not already accepted one from the pub/sandwich shop in question or rather the chain running them, that is probably why you can see them. If you're limited to only one from them, it will then mean after you accept one, you canot see more til someoen else "returns" one, and then they will let anyone have it as they just need it done. That's interesting to know. I can imagine it's a really frustrating job - I've sometimes typed up documents for my husband and find he writes sentences that make no sense at all and I struggle to work out what he meant!

It is frustrating and some shopppers are so rude! When you get in touch to query something or point a mistake out so they don't do it next time, they bite your head off for daring to criticise their perfect bit of work. The most frustrating ones are the ones where they are so badly written that it's quicker just to retype the whole thing again, rather than correct all the spelling and grammar errors.

Other times I think people forget that the person reading the report wasn't there and they have never been to that shop before. Sometimes I think they think we can assume what happened, but really all we know is what we read on the form.

Overall most shoppers are nice and do make a good effort though.
I'm curious, though, about why companies accept reports like these? All the ones I've done reports for seem to put great emphasis on things like punctuation and grammar etc., warning time and time again that you have to write in a certain way - so are you saying companies will still take people who put in poor reports, or have the guidelines tightened up since you left that type of work?

I know a few companies have grading systems. Everyone has a secret ranking, so the good people get offered the jobs first and the really bad ones are kept as a last resort for when there is really nobody else to do the work.
On a separate note I am annoyed to see the number of times I've slipped up and put i instead of I because the print was so bloomin' small I couldn't read it and didn't notice the mistake until I got the email copy of my report back!

I wouldn't worry about little mistakes. Nobody is 100% perfect and nobody submits perfect reports every time. I had one back for a bad shop I did yesterday as they wanted to clarify it to make sure that the lady really didn't do the things she was supposed to do.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Can I jsut ask a quick question to the people who have done this for a while. How much do you normally make a month on this. Once I've done all my jobs I have booked up, I'll have earned about £150 before tax, is this about right, or have I just had a mega month! If this can be regular, I can see me getting rid of a credit card before Christmas!
  • Becles, I won't ask more but does RE do this, with grading? I am currently on 463, with 5 jobs and therefore assignments to complete and get points for, so far. How would RE see me in this case then?

It depends where you live. I got LOADS of work in London but I find there is less in Liverpool, where I am based now. This month has been very good though; had some pubs, sandwiches, off licenses, clothing stores and will have made about £50 profit by the end of it.

I'll probably get flamed for this knowing the history of this thread but I've made on average probably about £200 per month but between £150 and £350 depending on the work available (and how desperate I was!)

It can be a good income and remember that the £350 months come with a heck of a lot of meals and shopping so it's bumper all around!
  • I thought it seemed a bit good to be true! I think I was lucky that I got a circut to do for Bare which accounts for most of the money. I'm in Glasgow and there don't seem to be many good earners up here.
