Glad you have had a good time! That extra £800 a month will make a big difference to the debtbusting! Fingers crossed, although I know you will be absolutely fine!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Hi Panda! The holiday sounds great, I'm really glad it was so good. If you want a bit of fun on here, look back through the last 5 pages of Hypno's most recent diary - lots and lots of property !!!!!!, you can drool madly. Otherwise, life goes on....2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Glad to hear you had such a good holiday - good luck sorting the house out!
The job sounds good, but is that £800 before tax or after? Is there any danger of you hitting higher rate tax?0 -
Im ok,thanks.

Glad to hear you had a lovely time! I'm looking at French campsites in Sept as I've got 2 weeks off with nothing to fill it with at the moment! So I will be checking out your recommendation. I cannot believe you found worktops in France AND managed to get them home!!!
You are really making progress on the garage... that's wonderful. & you're right about value. I don't think garages are very popular at the moment as people rarely use them for cars, just for junk storage!Debt @ LBM 29/12/08 - £49044! I did get the job, but it's flippin hard work! I'm basically devoting every spare minute to it which means that things like surveys and mystery shopping have completely fallen by the wayside. I think it should pay out about £500 a month on average, based on how much time I think I can devote to it, sometimes less if I've not got the time, sometimes more (that's after tax Tyllwyd - sadly I'm already in the upper tax band), and I plan to keep all the earnings aside and put them towards debts.
Alliance & Leicester are officially (in my opinion!) the worst bank in the world. Have spent hours on the phone to them over the past couple of weeks because they've been bouncing direct debits even though there was money in the account. So we're going to give First Direct a go - had the account there for a while unused, and I quite like them so far.
We have also just invested in a caravan. Part of me thinks it's a really stupid thing to do, but part of me says sod it. It's 10yrs old, which is still fairly young in caravan years, in really good condition, other similar models sell for £4-5k, we've got it for £2.5k because they need the space. We resisted the temptation to spend a fortune on finance on a new one, and have just about enough in the bank to pay it outright although we'll probably end up overdrawn again for a couple of months, but nothing too serious. It's money that should go to a debt, but we thought long and hard about it and went for the more fun option. And we can hopefully re-sell for a small profit or not too much loss if we need to. Will look at ukcampsite - thanks KP, wasn't aware of that one.
And we finally got kitten No 2 today - he's gorgeous, a little tabby with lots of fluffy white bits! I think he's being called Percy (!), and Cattie is going to finally be named Mavis (!!) although there's a good chance we'll end up still calling her Cattie. The introduction went well and they're already sitting on the sofa and eating side-by-side.
Must try and find Hypno's property !!!!!! pages...0 -

Yes, I must do that! Got about 200 photos on the camera but my dock thing isn't working at the moment so I've not done anything with them yet. Thanks for the nudge!0

Grrr...sitting at work with nowt to do for 4 hours, but I forgot to bring my internet with me, so I can't do any work (work internet is too slow and not a private connection so I can only do basic surfing like this). How annoying!
I'm tired too, as Percy decided he'd spend the entire night walking on my face and purring. It was cute for the first hour or two, then I locked him out the room and he sat and howled at the door until I let him back in again, so that he could stand on my face some more. I won't be quite so sympathetic tonight though, I need some kip. Why only me? DH was lying snoring beside me the whole time, despite the lump of kitten that kept getting thrown in his direction every 30 seconds for about 6 hours!0 -
£500 after tax each month is well worth pushing the M/S and surveys etc to one side for! It sounds like a lot of work, but it has got to be better than slicethepie :rotfl:
I think the caravan is a really good option for you and the family. You can get some really lovely sites with great facilities so the boys will love it! And as you say, it is not a huge amount of money spent.....especially in the grand scheme of things - by Christmas, the extra job money will have covered it easily!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
