What's the likelyhood of someone pinching the id of someone who looks identical to themselves?
(they cant confiscate your i/d)0 -
I'm truly shocked! Sorry to sound thick - but they refuse your id coz they consider you might have stolen it? Even when you offer other id?
If that's correct - you only need 3 forms of id to get a crb! What more can you do?
I'd be tempted to let them confiscate it then go for them under DP laws.
jackie - I think many stores apply that rule - but the point is there was id!0 -

The best bit is its only one place, and they have always been known for being picky.
I can show them:
My drivers license
My NUS Student card
My College Student card
My staff pass (for the local football club, so they know Im not exactly making the company up).
All have photos (different ones) and apparently none look like me?! At the time the college card photo was taken about 3 weeks before!
I can also show them about 4 credit cards and 2 bank cards with the same name on. Oh and multiple membership cards.
Its at this point they the decide I have stolen the wallet, as its the only way I can have all these cards?!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
I find the passport provides maximum embarassment to the staff memberKavanne
Nuns! Nuns! Reverse!

Why? Or do you just assume it. I've had to ask people for id umpteen times. Sometimes they'd try to be smug. I didn't give a toss. No doubt some of them thought what you have, but I think even the need to think that actually shows the embarassment is with you.0 -
Andyrules - This is common occurance in one pub (wetherspoons) in my town. I do look like the picture in my driving lisence, I also hae 3 other kinds of ID with my photo on to back this up. But if they decide its not you, then they will threaten to confiscate the entire wallet (apparently they think ive pinched it....)
They have no legal right to confiscate your wallet - if they did, you could report it as theft to the police."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

It's making a nonsense of the whole underage system. What criteria do staff use to judge whether you might have stolen it then - all young people? Or all young people who clearly look dodgy:rolleyes:, all people who might be a chav, all hoodies, all foreigners, anyone with ginger hair, anyone who can't produce evidence they are 61 ...
As I said, the Criminal Records Bureau system is becoming ott and much maligned, but at least they accept your passport!
ps not sure what you mean, Kavanne, why does a passport embarrass staff? They should be embarrassed if they refuse it!0 -
i seriously have to question some staff nowadays as to what they consider to be appropriate ID, altho theyre the ones who will personally get the fine if they do happen to serve someone underage, so i guess that puts alot of them off in the first place to even think about being fair0

I was refused wine a while ago and the staff member said they only accepted passports, but I remember someone on here saying that they went to buy something and their passport WASN'T accepted as it was easy to forge! Are you supposed to carry every form of ID on you just in case you get asked and they decide not to accept one of them?
I know the cashier can be fined, in the company I work for, someone was prosecuted for selling a knife to someone under 16, but a little sense is in order. If I WAS underage, I wouldn't have an ID that says I'm almost 23. 18, 19 at a push maybe, but not 22."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."
