Went out to get myself a bottle of wine as a reward for sorting out my living room (moving house on Thursday). Went to tesco forgetting it was shut so I went to co-op instead. Chose my wine, went to the till and they wouldn't sell me it  aparantly my ID must be my sisters, and even though I showed them every single card in my purse with my name on they wouldn't sell it. I get they have the right to refuse drink, and I know I look young (I'm 21) but it still made me angry, I felt so embarrased

Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

They have to be very careful, if you look young, well, in 20 years time you'll appreciate that;) .0

I know, but I forked out money for my driving license to be ID, and surely they can't just say 'well it cant be you'. I might have a tantrum soon, it's been a bad day :rotfl:Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
I had this in whetherspoons. I could show them 2 student cards with the same name and a different photo. And a staff pass from a local company and they still wouldnt believe it was me!!Green and White Barmy Army!0

At the end of the day its a daily occurence people trying to pass off fake ID's or those "borrowed" from family/friends or even stolen
ID is only valid if its a good likeness if you want it for these purposes, Id suggest you may need to look at updating the picture0 -
if you showed some of these people your passport they would say its fake .0

My husband who's 61 was asked for his ID by a very young new member of staff at the CoOp. He certainly doesn't look his age but certainly looks older than 21. Thankfully a senior sales assistant came to my husbands rescue and he didn't have to fumble for any ID.0

Err, have I got this right- you showed them genuine id and it was refused? Why did they say it was your sister's?0

Because she didn't look like the photo on her ID.0

I think that if you look under 25 you can't buy alcohol without ID from the Co-op.0

Andyrules - This is common occurance in one pub (wetherspoons) in my town. I do look like the picture in my driving lisence, I also hae 3 other kinds of ID with my photo on to back this up. But if they decide its not you, then they will threaten to confiscate the entire wallet (apparently they think ive pinched it....)Green and White Barmy Army!0
