At least you can say your kitchen is sparkling:D:rotfl:

Is that supposed to be funny!!;)

I've come back for a rest - my back is in two as I've been crouching on the floor while cleaning it so I didn't get covered in paint.

    So far I've:

Cleaned the table they were supposedly painting on.
Put everything back in the 'messy' box
Got all the glitter up off the floor
Cleaned all the paint pots and brushes and put them away
Cleaned DD's trainer which was on the kitchen floor so got covered in paint
Cleaned the cupboard doors which had paint on them
    Cleaned the floor

What time did my HHC start - 11.45?

I still need to go over the floor again but there's no visible paint there now.

The bottom of my slippers are now red so I can't wear them until I've cleaned them as well.

Hi Pigpen & Tag and thank you for the welcome!

I will have to have a look in BHS on the weekend then and see what's what - should I go for a certain thread count? I have seen 180 and 400? Edit> Just looked at BHS and their double flat Egyptian cotton sheet is £16 (200 thread) and pillowcases are £4. So that'd be £24 for the 2 of us... but I am thinking of the set I saw before for £24.99 inc flat, fitted and 2 pillow cases... I need me a 70% sale at BHS!

So inspired by the topic, it's what my blog for the day is about!

  • Congratulations Tia, oh dear though that does sound like a big job. At least though with the massive ones like that you really feel you've achieved something at the end of it! Looking forward to seeing before and after pictures!

After my rant last night I came down to check the back door was locked and noticed all the washing up had been moved into the washing up bowl rather than the sink... felt so bad for moaning then. However it is now 1.40 in the afternoon and the washing up still hasn't been done. I dread to think what he has been cooking which needs to soak this long!! Luckily we have enough plates and things to last so I might leave it to see how long he takes to do it.

Went to my last NCT session this morning with my mum in tow rather than DF because he was working, and felt quite sad that it was over although I am sure we will all keep in touch. Then came home and the front page story on the local paper was about a cat being mauled to death by a dog which made me a bit tearful! Then on the letters page was a letter from the RSPCA saying they need more people to adopt cats because they are running out of room to house them and they don't put them down unless they are unhealthy which made me sad again because I really really want to get a cat and it will have to wait until after baby now - I don't think it would be fair on the cat and also not very responsible to take on an animal when I'm going to be preoccupied with a newborn.

As for cleaning! I need to empty the dishwasher and put a load of washing on. This week's room schedule has gone way out of the window so will probably just wipe down surfaces and cooker in the kitchen and curl up with some proper Green & Blacks hot chocolate, I have been feeling horrible this week and am hoping it is just the weather. Oh and to the person who asked if people really hoover sofas, my DF does this and I've always found it odd - but it does get the crumbs out and it sort of puts air into the cushions. It works best with the correct attachment on the wand though!! He also hoovers in the kitchen and bathroom rather than sweeping them but I don't find that as helpful.

Tomorrow I am going to the jobcentre to sort out baby related benefits which hopefully will make me feel a bit more secure. Money is tight at the moment which is making everything a bit strained, but hopefully it will all work out okay :)

Good luck to those of you or your loved ones getting results today. My sister is getting hers and has been antsy and nervous all week even though she says she thinks she did alright and she's not bothered anyway!!

DS 1 didn't get quite the results he was hoping for - U for Product Design A2 - he was hoping to have managed D, and E for ICT AS.

On the positive side, he has managed one AS level! So, something to celebrate.

We spent quite a bit of time talking with the head, the deputy head, and the head of Sixth form. It seems probable that DS1 will carry on ICT to A2, and maybe retake the module he got the lowest mark for, hoping to improve his overall grade, and perhaps resit modules from the Product Design. He did get a D for the Product analysis (the bit I spent the whole Easter holiday supervising).

He was feeling quite demotivated afterwards, so a bit of a pep talk about short term investment of time and effort for a long term result in better career prospects...Actually, he was still in the recovery period for most of the year, and the last episode was in October/November, so he hasn't had that length of time when he's felt better. (And if I'm very honest, he's not that keen on hard work...even without finding concentrating so hard!)

I have spent the rest of the morning having coffee with the friends who looked after the garden while I was on holiday, than just had lunch, so I shall be doing the bathroom this afternoon. Pity it's raining again, as I have no excuse to get out of the housework and go to the allotment instead.
