here hang on a minute folks have we all forgotten the damsel in distress in turkey with no clothes!!!!!!!
as it happens hubby used brut force and ignorance and used a knife to open it but still stuck as i now have problem of how the hell can i pack stuff with a jammed lock......please help?

Please forgive any levity (appreciated by others, or not) in my posting(s) to your thread.

I feel that I perhaps owe you an explanation.

When I saw the time of night at which your original plea for help had been posted, from Turkey, on a Sunday, I thought that it had in all likelihood been sent by an airhead bimbo who had got too p1ssed on the first night of her holiday to be able to remember the combination of her suitcase.

To be perfectly frank, I didn't imagine that anybody could be stupid enough to put all their clothes into a suitcase they were taking to Turkey, not make any note of its combination, and then forget what it was.

I did not think there would be any chance, even if you could still stand up, of you taking it to a police station at eleven o'clock at night and telling them you thought it might have a bomb in it.

I did think - although clearly I was wrong - that you would wake up the next morning with a sore head but able to recall the combination of your suitcase.

I also thought you might try the professional trick suggested to you by the kindly-spirited, if somewhat questionably moralled, "ormus" before resorting to more drastic remedies.

In the event, however, it seems that your devoted, if somewhat questionably witted, husband applied his brute force, ignorance and a knife (if we may use your own chosen words) to the inspired solution of wrecking the lock on the suitcase in which you will want to bring your clothes home.

You now seek further advice from the Techie forum.

The answer to this is simple. Go to the nearest member of the local populace (or even police) and enquire of them, with a winning smile and all the charm which I am sure you can muster, where you can obtain a roll of strong sticky tape.

Thus armed, on the final day of your holiday put your clothes back into your suitcase - by applying in reverse the procedure you used to extract them - and then seal up your suitcase with the sticky tape, to a degree that would induce despair in even the most felonious of baggage-handlers at Thiefrow.

Upon your return home, remove the tape, remove your clothes (by which I mean from the suitcase) and then get the suitcase sorted.

Some would suggest that you do this by making a dodgy insurance claim. I would not.

The thing I can't understand in all of this is what the hell you are doing, making postings to a website in England from Turkey about this. Are you on holiday? Is that how you want to spend your time on holiday?

For heaven's sake, woman, pull yourself together and enjoy your time abroad.

Because, believe me, you don't want to even be thinking of bedraggled, blighted Blighty - let alone a computer - if you're somewhere where the sun is shining and the weather's warm.

So, stop worrying about your suitcase, buy a roll of sticky tape and then go have some FUN. :dance: :j :beer: :j :dance: :cool:

When you get back home, contact Samsonite and ask nicely for a replacement combination lock and if you're lucky (like I was) they'll send you one free of charge.;)

You can call them on the free phone number 0800 898201.

When you get your new combination lock, chose an easy to remember number like the day and month of your birthday...............and tell your husband the number too.;)
