I would just say if you are able to leave any money in the a/c to check the interest rates. Maybe the free £100 is cancelled out by a poor interest rate

It has a "plus saver" account attached to it so people dont actually need to leave any money in the current account until its actually required to be used. ;)

Someone might say still not the top rate, its ok for keeping money in till its due to be used. ;) ( Until 300909 the rate is higher than Nationwide BS e-saver rate)

If u click the above link, clear cookies before you apply via a cashback site. ;)

Tracked same day on getpoundsback so no reason why quidco shouldnt track quickly as well.

And as the interest free overdraft is only £250 maybe it wouldn't suit me

I thought the same. I emailed them a few days ago to see if they would match the overdraft I currently have but no reply yet. Not impressed with their service so far!!

I opened a Premier Current Account with A&L and have gone back to using my old Co-Operative bank privilege account purely and simply because I found the call centre staff employed by A&L to be completely unhelpful every time I rang them, whereas I've never had anything except really good service from the Co-op. I should also add that I work in a call centre myself ...........
Sadly, I must back up this comment. I like A&L for the high interest rates etc. and their website does look like it can do the business and combine all your accounts with them into one place. However, god help you if you ever lose a password or need to call the contact centre. The word painful is too light. Compared to First Direct, for example, who answer and immediately help, no matter what the hour or how onerous the question, A&L are simply in the dark ages.

Don't be put off though if all you want is to access the good rates, cashback and some of the fringe benefits they offer such as free travel insurance on some accounts ( but then beware that options like skiing cover will cost an uplift that is more than a regular policy found through MSE).

    Hope this helps.

I've just seen this offer and am thinking of applying for it. has anyone successfully got the £50 Quidco AND £100 from A&L???

i'm looking for an account to actually use, with no overdraft. i am currently living out of an over draft with Halifax with a limit of £2750, but usually only going as far into it as £2200ish. but its hard to keep track of my money in this way and to see if my overall debt is goign down, so i'm looking for an account to replace it, whilst keeping the overdraft at Halifax and gradually paying it off.

therefore, would you recommend this as an account to actually use? the £150 cashback sounds tempting (and would help pay off the overdraft!), but i would like a usable account
Aiming to pay off £50,312.94 in less than 3 years - Starting from December 2015
Current debt total: £32,756.02 (as of 1st March 2018)
Date Free Date Aim: Summer 2019 (8 extra months needed :( )

I'm in the process of opening an A & L a/c (Quidco not tracked after 7 days :( ) and my welcome letter is offering a mere £800 O/D. It does state that subject to T & Cs, that they will match my current O/D with NatWest - £2700 - when switching is complete.

Anyone had any progress with this offer? I don't think I saved the t&c.

I've had the Quidco through - which is a bonus. Not hopeful for the cashback.
  • The staff can view the T&C's as they did this for me last week, when my old banck Citibank failed to send the details of my one standing order to them, so I had to get the girl to set it up manually.

She said the £100 comes 16 weeks after opening (I think she said), so I'm a way off that yet.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)
