Ok, so answer my question-i you give a bank a/c to transfer, and that Ba has no Dds or Sos, do you still get the £100?
  • I was thinking of sending one DD from my normal account to my unused Citibank account and setting up an auto transfer for the same amount, then doing the A&L account application (via Quidco) and they can pick them both up in the transfer process, thus ensuring I have kept within their T&C's at point 1 on the webpage.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

I did this last year, just to get quidco cashback offer as it was then - didn't transfer any direct debits or standing orders over, just arranged for £500 to be paid in each month and got the cashback with no problems. So you should be fine, and nothing to lose by trying.

I switched some time back and it went smoothly enough however I'm probably going to switch back out again.

Some months back my wife was paying in some cheques for me at a branch. She doesn't usually use the machines to pay in but as there was a sizeable queue she did. The machine ate the cheques and card, gave an electronic burp, and refused to do anything more. My wife managed to get somebody on the counter to retrieve the card and process the cheques manually.

She has her own account but ran that low and tried to get some cash out on her card. It wouldn't work - took the card, accepted the pin but then just spat it out. I tried it and it did the same so a new card was ordered for her using her online login. It mentioned that we'd both get cards. Well I got one and had to phone in to validate it but she never got onee. Repeated the excercise - same result. Maybe they are reversed somehow? Ordered card using my login. I got one she didn't.

Every time a card turns up you have to play number pressing on the phone to validate it which is annoying so we both went into a branch. She had her card, I had mine, I had a driving licence with me, she didn't so the counter person said they couldn't help.

Had on more go at ordering her a replacement card. One turned up for me. Spoke to CS after some hassle getting through - they said her card had been reported lost/stolen (???? we certainly never did that) and said they'd send out 2 fresh cards.

A card turned up for me.

I've just started the process of opening an Abbey account.

So long as nothing goes wrong you'll be fine. If anything does go wrong it will be quicker to get another account than get these clowns to sort things out.

Yes you have had problems and I don't blame you moving, but why in the world would you go to Abbey.

They are Spanish owned (Santander) and came absolute bottom in a Customer satisfaction survey by BBC's Watchdog programme.

I laughed as I watched the show and knew full well who'd be bottom, and sure enough it was Abbey.

Top was First Direct (and they are always coming top in surveys); you get superb CS from BRITISH callcentres (how good is that thesedays), and you can use HSBC as your 'branch' on the High Street.:T :T

Now I know there will be MSE'rs out there to say how good Abbey is for them; what I'm saying is trust surveys of 1000's of people and don't leave it to chance that you will be the lucky one who has no problems.

    Offer states:
Other account opening incentives may be available, if you apply in a different way than through www.alliance-leicester.co.uk.

    Quidco states:
***It is very important to clear your cookies before proceeding through this link, as if you have visited A&L first through another site they will be credited with the commission (having been the first to refer you). If you have gone directly to the A&L site they will place their own cookie on your computer and will not allow the quidco cookie to track.

I think you will get one or the other - NOT both (IMHO) I signed up last week and was very careful about NOT letting the quidco cookie track as then they would pay out £50 and I would miss the £100.

It doesnt say that one offer CANNOT be used in conjunction with other offers. ;)

"Other account opening incentives may be available", There is both refer a friend and cashback site account opening incentives available. ( its not possible to use both of these together though)

"Other account opening incentives" - As an alternative to 100.00 from A+L, their is a 8.5% fixed for 12 months account opening incentive offer option or if someone applies at a branch their is the 12% regular saver fixed for 1 year incentive offer.
