I joined A&L 3 months ago, before they were offiering he £100 cashback on their site. I got the £50 via Quidco:j .
The switch went OK, no issues. They changed my Direct Debits and Standing Orders for me. They even wrote to my HR department to give them my new details for my payroll to be paid into.
Their website is good, better than my previous bank (Abbey) however you will have seen recently that Bank Santander (Abbey's current owners) will soon take over A&L. Does not bother me :-)
The main reason I decided to leave Abbey was because they have yet to enable the same day payments system for online payments. So I voted with my feet and got Quidco cashback.
No complaints from A&L in the slightest.0 -
I applied via Getpoundsback, tracked very quickly, have now received all cards/cheque book, PIN (s) and found the account opening service very good. ( application decision was made within 24 hours)
One thing to watch out for is that A+L have 3 offers on all involving the current account.
100.00 cashback/8.5% fixed for 12 Months and for applications at a branch 12.5% regular saver so if u apply online and u want the 100.00 cashback dont pick the 8.5% fixed for a year application. ( they are next to each other so easy to confuse)

Has anyone successsfully received both the £100 A&L cashback AND the Quidco (and others) cashback? Or is too early to call yet?Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I also spotted this and wondered about my Citibank current account (that I no longer use). It has No DD's or SO's, but I can easily set up a £500 pcm transfer from my main bank account to satisfy the T&C, and an identical transfer from A&L 1 day later.
Would this work I wonder?I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!
Quidco and Topcashback, £4,569
Shopandscan, £2,840
Tesco Double The Difference, £2,700
Thomson EU261/04 Claim, £1,700
British Airways EU261/04 Claim, EUR12000 -
I opened a Premier Current Account with A&L and have gone back to using my old Co-Operative bank privilege account purely and simply because I found the call centre staff employed by A&L to be completely unhelpful every time I rang them, whereas I've never had anything except really good service from the Co-op. I should also add that I work in a call centre myself ...........loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0

U have nothing to lose by applying, ATM some cashback sites, ( Getpoundsback and Cashback Kings amongst others) are giving 50.00 cashback for a successfull HSBC non monthly fee paying current account application, this has no monthly funding requirement, others like myself could in theory apply for both products as the HSBC account doesnt actually have to be used.0 -

I did this earlier on tonight and was going to post it. The quidco page makes specific reference to the £50 quidco plus the £100 from A&L for the same account type. Looks like the full £150 will be honoured - can't see it lasting for long though so be quick0 -
I opened an account over a year ago and never got the £50 from quidco.0

i couldnt find anything on the website...but how big an overdraft will they give you if you switch? i'm a skint graduate so could do with the £100... but i dont see them just throwing money at me somehow
. i'm about 1300 quid overdrawn now, but when I get paid in a couple of weeks that should go down to about 600...
would I have to close my hsbc account (what i'm switching from) or lose the overdraft there?
do i need to get my paycheck paid into the A L or can i just switch £500 cash? Just that my HSBC overdraft is getting 'reconsidered' or whatever in november.... if I switch my paycheck over, I dont want them to just take it off me... and if i wait til november to switch, the offer may be gone
anyway, thanks for any help and advice!0 -

Nobody on here would be able to say what level of overdraft a financial institution would give someone.
You dont need to close your existing account, in order to get the 100.00 you do need to switch all your direct debits and standing orders to A+L using A+L switching service.
Whether someone has their main income paid directly into the new account "can sometimes" be a determining factor as to whether or not the application is successful.0
