You do put the kong in the microwave. Literally for a matter of seconds (5?). I got it from the kong website, it is something they recommend. The Kong doesn't melt.

Yep I prepare the kong then put in the freezer overnight, then I give it to him before I go out. The cold feels nice on their gums and it is good for a warm day.

    Hi,

I strongly advice to not to plan to accompany your dog with any terrier, as terriers are basically very aggressive and they are very possessive too, so if you pay some more attention to another dog, terrier may harm you as well as your dog too. Indeed terriers are very good dogs but they should not be accompanied with any other or even the same breed.

But it is your house and your dogs, it is just an advice.

    Thanks
    Itee

We've had two yorkies living side by side before and have never seen too more loyal and faithful dogs together, no fights, no arguments, just playing together all day and cuddling up at night :)

We've calmed down a lot today and we're ringing round the local vets/pet shops and hoping to find something more 'official' and nearer. Thank you :)

I usually put last nights tea in his kong then put in the freezer, if tea is not suitable then I smear marmite or peanut butter on the inside then put in a few doggie treats, so they stick to the side and he has to work a bit.

Please dont be tempted to buy from a pet shop if thats what you were thinking?

Sorry to hear about your disappointment!!!!

What about the rescue centres? I'm sure there would be a little dog that would suit:j

BTW, I've got two female JRT who've always been the best of friends and who have often shared the house with strange foster dogs with no problems......so I don't subscribe to the school of thought that you can't have more than one terrier:D

I have an EBT. People are wary of her, because of the rep the dog has. She is non aggressive, to either dogs or people. Cat's dont bother her. Birds, she will chase until the cows come home LOL.
    Her recall is good.
However, when you own a breed that people are wary of, you have to be extra specially careful not to put a foot wrong.
This doesn't stop other owners letting their dogs wander up to her though....then they scowl at me when their dogs get aggressive, and more often than not comment that the dog should be muzzled, or bl*dy dangerous dog, or the like.
She has NEVER once growled at another dog, even when they've been in her face.
Thing is though, if one of these out of control dogs were to start a fight, she probably would finish it. That's terriers for you. Terriers of all types. Then, who would get the blame? Her, of course.
Nowadays I'm more likely to tell the owner of said wandering pooch to get it on a lead and out of my dogs face. It's just not worth the risk.
She does go off lead occasionally, but only when there is nobody else around. If we go to a place that's generally busy with dog walkers, we use a long line, so she can still wander and have a bit of freedom, but can be reigned in if necessary.
It's not her I don't trust. It's the other dogs.
And, she does have a tendency to jump up *blushes*. Try as I might, and however well we have her trained, this one I haven't managed to crack yet, though she is better than she was.
Most people do not appreciate a bully running towards them, tongue lolling out then diving at them. I can understand that.
I always leash her near kids too (short leash). She adores kids, but again, it's the jumping up thing. She does it to my kids, and they will tell her no and push her off which will stop her, but I won't have her doing it to a strangers kids, for sure.
We are training her out of this, by taking her and sitting near the school at home time, and making her sit whilst all of the kids walk past. She is not allowed to move towards them in any way. If she does well, she gets a treat!

I have 2 of the little blighters and my lad bully still jumps up at people. I have had all the comments too - Isnt that on the dangerous dogs list? Shouldnt it be muzzled? etc etc etc.

I just ignore them as I know my dog is a big softy.

My EBT has a very sensitive tummy so I have to be careful what I give him. For him he has digestive biscuits and natural yoghurt. I then freeze it and he loves it!

I had a lad bully too, but I had to rehome him sadly. I adored him, but him and her just didn't get on unfortunately. He wouldn't leave her alone.
His new owners.........called him......wait for it? Borstal. LMAO.
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

We tried the pet shops, vets, animal shelter places, terrier trusts - everything - to see if they knew of anyone who was looking to give dogs home or vets and nothing - until surfing the same website that we found Milly on. Ten minutes before I'd checked it for the thousandth time that day, someone had posted about some puppies who were 3/4 yorkie and 1/4 border terrier and they had one left - and were in Grimsby.

I pounced, 'bought' her and went with mum to see her. She came bounding to the door with her parents and sat between my feet as soon as she she'd said hello - never mind us choosing her, she chose us too...!

She's absolutely beautiful and so friendly and lively (when she's not snuggled up asleep) and Mickey is a little wary of her though is coming round in leaps and bounds.

ETA: They just went out in the garden together and were playing and wrestling and barging through each other and rolling and guh <3
