    Thanks Dragon,

Nice to see a fellow herb.

It's been more difficult than I thought it would be and only really one week into everything but I'm determined to see it all through.

Typically though when one side of our lifes is looking up the other deteriorates. The business is not doing well just now and August was expected to be a good month. It's even less than July so far so I'm glad I have a steady wage to cover all the personal stuff. At least if anything happens to the business I have the rest covered.

Do you think your OHs business will pick up again? or are you basing everything on just your salary?

Currently everything is based on my salary because if the business does pick up it's likely to take a couple of years to get back on track and then I suspect I'll throw as much as possible at the credit cards either with or without a DMP.

It's hard to predict the income though so I tend not to.(pretty much zero for us just now anyway).

Luckily I'm on the right side of a job evaluation and my pay will be increasing once it's all through so I'll be able to increase payments at the first review most likely. I will be remembering not to put everything there though as cost of living is getting increasingly higher and a lot of our appliances will be coming to the ends of their lives in the next couple of years so I need to be able to buy new ones (cheap as possible) outright.

I don't really think in the now. I tend to think long-term so I'm already planning ahead to next April. I just have to watch that the present doesn't bite me which it does occasionally do like this month when I'd planned everything so carefully but wound up with no money for the last two weeks because I did all my token payments with the extra.

I also tend to ramble. Thanks for reading.

    Left to do

    Lottery - Done
Income protection - They open 9-5 Grrr
    Mortgage - Done
    Mortgage PP - Done
Life insurance - Diarised for Sept payment
    Internet - About to do
Council Tax - still to sort SO
Set up Paypal on new account. Need to get some money in first so they can do their deduct/recredit. - About to do as put some money in new account

Very nearly done all DD-s & SO. Pretty pleased with myself.

Got default notice from MINT today but also got a letter explaining that as I've told them I'm in financial difficulty before they can look at a payment plan they need to default and terminate the account. No-one else has actually taken the time to explain this so I'm happy with it.

Left work at 4 today rather than the usual 7.30 so I could get various things done. Finally managed to catch CCCS and got them to send a SO form for the DMP. They said that I should phone about the Defaults to say I've got them and confirm that I'm with CCCS and give my reference number so I did.

What a surprise - TSB said thanks for calling what's the reference, ok that's noted on your file. Goodbye. - HUH!!! They've stopped phoning and they were really easy to deal with. What's going on!!! I did start the call by saying that someone from TSB had recommended that I go to CCCS so maybe that's what helped.

Need to phone Halifax to try and sort them out. Guy at CCCS says they keep taking interest off until they default it and pass it to a DCA. At that point interest should stop so an interesting few months ahead.

A couple more things to do and I'm done for the day and it's not even 7 yet. I'm usually still at work doing overtime at this point. Had a lovely afternoon by leaving early but better not get used to it as need the extra cash.

Internet is done, turns out I just had to change to card details and then set up a new direct debit so could have done it ages ago. Never mind, done now.

    Paypal is also now sorted.

    Just 2 left now.

Only Council Tax & income protection left to do. Everything else is sorted.

Have spoken to Halifax One Card & Preference account people and both of them have the DMP on file and have agreed the payments. Halifax One have only agreed for 3 months with a revision after that. They did both say they'd continue to take interest but I assume it will be a lower rate. If it increases the debt then I know where to get a template from to send them a letter.

They definately liked the fact that I phoned them to speak to them about it so looks like the CCCS guy was right when he said it would be best to give it the personal touch by speaking to them myself.

Still not phoned BOS. I need to do it but have realised that they are the only ones I've not sent the authority for for the DMP so I'm going to do that just now and put in a letter asking them to cancel the Council Tax SO.

Can't set up new SO's on my new account until I get a card reader so that should be interesting. Ordered one and waiting for it.

Still no pin number for new card but have online banking set up to view the account. Waiting to finish sorting Paypal so I can actually put some money in.

Everything is being filed in my folder so I know exactly where I'm at. It's going well so far but not got SO form from CCCS yet either and I really want to do it by SO not DD.

I've got an £8 deficit but I put in £15 per month for presents which I don't really do. It's definately cutting it fine but it does mean that anything from my Husband will make a difference to our standard of living as there is no guaranteed income from him. Also didn't include overtime as it's only usually for 6 months of the year and then it varies all the time. Pay going up to around £1800 per month in the next 3 months (I hope) so that will also make a big difference.

  • Still not heard officially from any of the creditors although 3 out of 7 have now defaulted. It's odd how I'm looking forward to getting a default notice. TSB still trying to speak to my husband and refuse to take any messages from me so charges and interest definately being applied to his cc's just now.

Got really excited about payday today. First time in years I've had cash to spend on what I need rather than always shifting things around different CC's.

Made the mistake of lending husband £200 to pay a debt for the business but he's already paid back £50. Supposed to be getting the rest of it over the next two days but if I do it'll be the first time he's ever kept his word. He did say that he realises I have to have it back to be able to live this month so maybe this time will be different.

Can't pay DMP until he pays me back and it's due on Monday. Still not got card reader from RBOS to set up SO's and payment online so may go into branch and see if they will set it up there instead.

Got to buy train ticket to York tomorrow for end of month. Hoping to get a good deal by going to train station rather than doing it online. Can get for £64 online at the cheapest. One of them is £14.50 but the other way is £49.50 so hoping the station have access to different deals. SuperSavers here I come. Can get there with no changes so supersaver should be safe for a change.

The weird thing is that I desperately want to spend some money because I can but I'm scared to do so in case I need it for something unexpected. Looking forward to next month as 21 hours overtime to be paid so should be good. Also slight tax rebate will be due as the tax codes change in Sept.

    Here's hoping.

I hope you do get the cash back from OH as it sounds as though you need it! Best of luck with getting the train sorted out and I hope the creditors come through for you soon.

Um not sure about the tax code changes bit though I thought that had all happened in April?!
