Hi there,
My girlfriends laptop won't boot and doesn't give any error messages, however apparently there were errors stating that config.sys was missing. I have done chkdsk /r on c: and now on e:/minint what else is there I can try to sucessfully restore it?
Thanks in advance

If you have the windows disk do a recovery with it it shouldn't touch the files on the hard disk just put back whats missing.0

How do I do a recovery with it (The cd)? It isn't giving the config.sys error now. And to be honest I didn't see the error my girlfriends dad did. It is XP home edition.Live for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

I think he means a Windows Repair with the XP Cd
I would do Fixboot + FixMBR now if you are still getting the messageEx forum ambassador
