    Hi lucielle,

As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've moved it over to the In My Home board to see if you can get some more replies.

These earlier threads may help too:

    secondary double glazing with clingfilm

    Cling-film like double glazing

Central Heating and window clingfilm like stuff

We have crittal windows which let in lots of draughts so would be interested in doing this. Is it very noticeable from outside as you approach the house? Our house is one of only two in the road that doesnt have double glazing.

    Interesting thread.

I 'Think' you might have difficulties getting double sided tape to stick on metal frames for long periods.

Perhaps someone else might be able to throw some light on this?

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
  • It's normal kitchen clingfilm, but we get the big rolls from the market for the windows, normal double sided tape straight onto the paintwork of the wondow frame, and no it doesn't pull the paint off, then pull of a big strip and stick it on, then another underneath and if you run your fingers along the join it usually seals it, and carry on down the window. About April we take it off and put it back in October, you can see it from outside be it doesn't bother us at all, and the room is much warmer becaue of it - we only have fires in 2 rooms and no central heating at all. We've even had people walking past ask about it and then do it in their homes.

No website that I know of, we worked it ou ourselves, but I imagine a website would tell you how to use he expensive window sized stuff which we tried one year and it didn't make the room any warmer and cost a lot more.
This seems like a great idea!... is it just "normal" kitchen clingfilm? and is there a website that with a "how to guide"?
