Abbey - "Known problem" - payment of interest to external accounts

Options
I daren't search on "Abbey" on the forum - too many threads I'm sure - but have booked back through to about 2 August on this board. Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere.

It seems that people with "bonds" with Abbey may not have received their monthly interest this month (or annual if due).

The computer seems to have thrown up its hands and decided not to pay to accounts outside Abbey. So interest payments are sitting in one of Abbey's own accounts somewhere ......

(I'm to expect a call from my local branch on Monday.)

  • I have a current account with Abbey, had it for 20+ years no problem. Have preferred in credit rate. Monthly statement provides summary of interest due and this is then credited to account ...... except over the last 3/4 months March/April/May/June, the summary has said one figure and the amount credited has been lower. Checked with Abbey, told summary was correct and they're working on it as it appears to "randomly effect accounts". Still no sign of the additional interest I'm owed as yet. Suggest you all check your own accounts for this, not mega money i know but.......every little helps and it'lll will screw up any bank rec you might try and do...
