Does anyone know if the sky+ box will still work if we cancel our subscription. And will we still get some free channels?

You will still get " free channels " you will lose the ability to record stuff.
Keep your existing ( cancelled ) card, otherwise you will not get Ch4/Ch5's or Sky 3.0 -
By "free channels" does that include others on top of 1,2,3,4,5 eg, normal freeview such as ITV2, CITV etc?0

No need to buy a card, your existing one will work, once you have cancelled.0 -
Hi,
I have a similar question!
I've just signed up for the 'pay one watch forever' deal with the intention of cancelling after 4 months and possibly moving to Freesat, thereby saving the installation cost. I'm thinking about buying a Sky+ box independently and asking the engineer to install this when he comes (I realise I'll probably have to pay something). I'd like Sky+ so we don't have to change back to our digibox to pause and record tv, and could dispense with the digibox. Will this plan work, and will I lose the ability to pause and record tv on the Sky+ when my Sky subscription ends and reverts to 'Freesat from Sky'?
Thanks!0 -
The recording facility of a Sky+ Receiver will not function if you cease to subscribe to Sky.;)0

You ought to have bought the freesat box http://www.freesat.co.uk/"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I want to reduce Sky cost - currently have package with all sports (no movies) and Sky plus for £40 per month. DH belives Sky sports as essential as air and water in life - is there anything I can do to reduce cost?
If i phone up to give notice to reduce package & they don't offer me a reduced fee I don't actually want to cancel due to hubby thinking he will die without access to sports!
I don't mind him watching the sport - just want to pay less!0
