TV licensing!

I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but I'm a student.
I've had a threatening letter from the TV license people saying I haven't got a license so they're investigating. But I don't need one, as I don't have a TV!
The letter tells me all about how to get one and how much I'll be fined, but not what to do if I don't need one. So, any suggestions?!

ignore it if u haven't got one!
Just make sure there aren't any in the house if they're going to come round!
Don't let them in the house unless they show you proper ID and unless the have some kind of warrant!0 -
Put it in your pile of paper for recycling. TV Licensing have an automated system for sending out threatening letters to all addresses without a license, whether such a letter is justified or not.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0

it isnt accusing you of anything, it says if you are using a tv without having a license and they catch you, you will be investigated etc etc

Of course not. If you see a sign in a shop saying "Thieves will be prosecuted" you ignore it because you are not a thief. It is the same thing here.juno wrote:So it's nothing to be scared of then?
No court in the land would prosecute someone who doesn't own a TV for not having a TV licence! There is a very rare chance that they may come round and check. If so just let them in.
It is a not a problem! :beer:0 -

Almost all students in halls get these because the room will be occupied by a different person each year and so the TV licence people can't keep track of who lives where and who has a licence so they just send these letters out to make sure anyone who has a TV has a licence.0
