I was convinced that my gas bills did not reflect my usage and after many painful hours on the phone British Gas have now had it confimed that three properties in my building have crossed meters and that I have been paying one of my neighbours bills!

If anyone else has similiar concerns I would recommend that the serial number in their meter is one of the first things that they check against what British Gas have recorded for them

I'm expecting a nice little refund as I have paid for over a thousand units that I haven't used :D

The meter serial number is the thing you should always check when checking the reading on your bill. The is because (a) you could ave a crossed meter or (b) the meter has been changed and the supplier not informed.
