It is almost impossible to sleep with the humming noise. We are like walking zombies and do not know how we are going to cope with the future.

Sorry I can't help with the main problem, but to help you to get some sleep in the meantime, it may help if you have a radio on low during the night on a talk radio station.

We have a humming/vibrating noise that has been going on over 3 years that makes it impossible to sleep and causes great distress. The beds vibrate and drive us mad. There are cracks appearing around the house.
I cannot believe someone else is going through the same thing as me. I have been dealing with a similar problem for almost two years and came upon this forum by doing a "google". I have to sleep every night with my radio on or my attic fan on low even in the winter. Like you, the sound is in every room of my house. It is a sound, not a noise. I have had every body out. I am going to read every post on this forum to see what ideas are here that I have not explored. I am totally at my wits end. I have no vibrations, just the constant humming--actually it sounds like a refrigerator motor, but it continues to hum when there's no electricity so I know it's not electrical.
Some of my neighbors have asked me why my lights are on in the wee hours of the morning. It's because I haven't slept all night. Until I was recently laid off, I think I drove to work each day asleep. It was only through GOD's grace that I have survived. I have tried and tried to find some help, but none seems to be available. Everyone can't hear the sound, but some do.
I am in Georgia and will come back here later today to try to continue the discussion and hopefully make contact with FamilyMad to see if they found a solution. Since I know exactly what's happening to you, I totally empathize. It is maddening.

I read this and thought of you. Worth monitoring to see if they find anything that may apply to you?0 -

Thanks Penny for the article.
However, this is not my problem. There is no "NOISE". It is more a hum or the sound of a refrigerator. Most people expect to hear a noise but it's more like a dull sound. Thanks for trying to help me. This is truly maddening.

I haven't seen a mention about gas? Could sound be transmitted via that along pipes to your central heating and gas fires or cooker?
As said above, a flexible hose like this could easily be fitted after the stop !!!! to help prevent vibrations travelling in along the solid copper pipes. Just chop out a short section of pipe, and then connect this in coiled around.0 -
Do you have Ridge Vents on your roof? If so, they are causing the humming and need sufficient air passage from the soffits. The gable vents, louvers, and wind turbines need to be closed off. Negative air pressure and an airplane-like noise is caused by improper functioning ridge vents.0
