A Word of Warning re First Class Recorded Delivery
Comments
-
Dr Beeching - who is he ? A relative of someone from OZ!!
Sent something back 1st Class recorded last week - 7 days recorded because of online proof of delivery. No one has claimed the item and no online tracking.
No one has claimed or bothered to get the item because they know Paypal dispute ends in 3 days. Where does that leave me? Screwed that's where. No proof of delivery, no item, no refund.
And reading through the posts on here looks like I am not gonna get any compensation for my lost item - at all - even if I wait the 15 days.
Not all sellers are like this - but there is always one or two out of every 100 for me. RM have not helped. Like others have said a great service the majority of the time but when it goes wrong they couldn't care less.
Custardys "argument" about not having a handheld device is weak. It's not like carrying around a bloody desktop PC. My mate fixes these POV devices and they are handheld. About as big and heavy as 2 large letters max!!!
Sort it out RM and issue them to everyone and stop carding. We don't live in the pencil age!!!
Don't really get why said about not going back to base. Don't posties have to return the bike and sack at end of shift?!! What's the prob with giving the computer device back then and the lazy miserable git who works in the PO till 12.30 can put the data in?!!
BTW our PO is a "main" one open 6 days a week 8-5.30 and 8 - 12.30 but to collect recorded can only do this till 12.30 - is this normal?
Also !!!!!! are posties complaining about!!! There used to be 2 deliveries and 3 collections a day. Now there is one of each. Someone is doing less work it seems!!!0 -
Sometimes they ask the neighbour to sign for the parcel. Then it depends on which kind of neighbours you have. How many have been asking their neighbours if they have got their parcels, and was told no while the neighbour had flogged your item or has thought he had an early Christmas present?
It should be signed by the person whose name is on the packet, or there is no point having a sign for. Then what do you do if you catch the postman and he tells you that your neighbour has signed for it but your neighbour deny it.
Since I have a dodgy neighbour who has been stealing my parcels in the past and intercepting my letters (quite a few years ago now, mind you) I have a poster on my door saying that if I am not here not to give my packets to anyone else. So they leave it behind my door (sometimes recorded sign for ones too, unsigned by you but who sign it?)or leave a card.
I was wondering why they weren't coming here anymore. I will look behind your door before you do everyday.
Thanks.
BTW - where do you live?0 -
weak? sorry but the paper system causes major problems on many levels
lost cards
misread/written item numbers etc etc
but hey what would i know
at no point have i argued 'against' hand helds, these have been on trial for ages.
its a big undertaking to bring them in on RM and make sure they can be used in all situations
as for less work,um you realise RM has cut 000's of staff?
who is this 'git' inputting data?
are you referring to post office counters,a delivery office or what?
there used to be 2 deliveries, and?
there used to be 12 in London so whats your point,we should still have 12?
things change,costs are cut
you cant get a cheap service(which RM is) amd meet the EU requirements and keep things the way they were under state funding0 -
Are you actually a postman or a RM manager?
Reason I ask is because you blindly seem to defend everything RM does in its cutting back of services and you seem to give 2 fingers to customers legitimate complaints.
Even though you say that there have been cutbacks - that would equate to more work for the postpeople. As a postie I think I would be pretty peeved at these managerial decisions but all your posts seem to defend them. Why do that if they are screwing customers and yourselves around???
If you are a postie why give a toss about management when they obviously have no qualms sacking people, giving you more work and drastically reducing the service to customers? Employing people from agencies that can't read the language, let alone speak it.
Your defence of the company seems at odds with the service and renumeration they must surely provide. EU regulations - why would you know about more, care about it?
I'm English living in England. We have the pound and I resent being dictated to. I feel that you are a RM beurocrat - if not your defence of a company is completely at odds with what a postman would be worried about.
Try sorting out CS and responding to complaints. Delivering recorded mail would be a welcome addition.0 -
            BTW I didn't call anyone a git.
Profits are way up at RM. Maybe they should use a bit of this to upgrade to the 21st century instead of being in the 19th with old hat things such as paper and cards!!
They would save a lot of money in claims...
Sorry U R right, they wouldn't cos they don't pay out on them!!0 -
lol i think you should perhaps read my posts
so by talking of the system thats in place and what can be done to try and improve it im defending RM?
"lazy miserable git" were you own words
profits are way up? what about the letters buisness, post office counters.are profits up for those depts?
do i care about the managers or am i trying to make things work the best i can?
im no manager but im not a delivery postie either(however i have plenty of delivery experience) and get a good view across deliveries, collections and mail centre dealings on a daily basis
being 'peeved' solves nothing
eu regulations, why would i care ummm perhaps because they are the main driving force behind al the cutbacks and in turn loss of service, job quality etc
perhaps i look at a bigger picture?0 -
I thought you could get money back from standard or recorded up to the value of £33, so why are royal mail saying no to claims? No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -

Please stop talking !!!!! and prove to me that I said "lazy miserable git"!!! If you are getting these facts wrong no wonder you can't deliver the service!! Please prove it. No wonder RM service is so diabolical when posties / managers start making things up.
Prove I said what you are libelling me about!!
!!!!!! just confirmed my suspicions that RM are incompetent and they employ monkeys!!0 -

see aboveTypical of Royal Mail service really. Idiots who don't want to listen, abuse customers and are bloody rude. Custardface has said that I have said things even though there is absolutely eveidence.
Evidence of Royal Mails customer service really. No apology or acceptance of them being wrong - just patronisation and idiotic comments. Prove your libellous comments custard RM as5 licker!!!
You can't?!! Dammit you must be wrong. How many customers does your customer wrong every day? Shame we don't have your name and contact details because you would be immediately reported to HO for massive incompetence.
Are you going to admit, on RM behalf, as you love speaking, that you have made up comments that are untrue for reasons unknown?!!! You lie, you speak for RM vociferously, maybe tone it down unless you are sure of what you are saying.
i fully quoted your posts as you seem to have trouble reading them?
customers customer?
rude? have you read your posts? ooh you changed my username into an attempt at a jibe at myself.well im scathed,i really am
i lie?
what things have you absolute evidence for?0 -
            That made me smile.
Brownbake. Recorded was not the service that you wanted. For online tracking (as distinct from online proof of delivery), you needed Special Delivery. RTFM
