I agree that he isn't to blame. I do think there is a little responsibility as he had it as one of his top buys (I had never heard of Icesave until I found this site), but that's as far as the 'blame' goes. Noone forced me to bank with them - I read about them, they seemed like a good choice, their interest rates tempted me and their compensation scheme looked kosher.
Now we know that things are not so clear-cut it's easy to look for someone to blame, but as someone on the savings board said - noone held a gun to our heads and forced us to bank with them! I do feel sorry for him, I imagine he must feel awful even though he isn't to blame (at least I'm sure I'd feel bad if I'd suggested Icesave to any of my friends or family)

Martin Lewis cannot predict the future. It was a top saver because of the rate conditions etc! He did a simular thing before with one of the energy suppliers it was one of his top companys then all of a sudden the prices jumpped up. he can't predict it he just advices what is best for now!

Awww CL, i really hope it turns out ok for you xx
I was looking at starting a savings account with them when I am debt free because of the good interest rate. xx
I know why people are blaming Martin, because they need someone to blame and he suggested to use them.
Nevermind.

Morning everyone, I guess amid all this financial crisis at least it's sunny today...
I'm sorry about your savings CL, I was hoping I was wrong
. I have a feeling you'll get your money back though, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you.
My petrol money STILL hasn't been taken out! Nevermind... I'm going to see my friend later so he can photograph some of the jewellery I made last night for me, but I can't do that til after 12 because of the parking regulations where he lives. That and I want to catch our post as I'm waiting for a package that I know won't fit through the letterbox, but it seems to be arriving later and later. Getting post at 2 in the afternoon is quite frustrating.
I'm waiting for points to be added on global test market as I've now reached the threshold for a £25ish cheque. All very exciting lol.
Anyway, hope everyone has a good day

Hooray for the good news today about Icesave
I'm really relieved - can't believe the Icelandic government said they would not be honouring their part of the guarantee though! Labour will most definitely be getting my vote, for once they have done something right. Anyway thanks for all the well wishes xxx
Just done scratchards - 20p on one, 10p on the other. they're probably shifting them around so we accidentally play the ones that cost real money :P
I have no idea about the car tax Jen, but I know what you mean about not getting things back with the purchase! Seems all my purchases nowadays give me cashback, or points, or I use coupons/vouchers to pay for part of it.0 -
