My mum used to be a home help. She got paid weekly ( it was a long time ago) Each week she drew her wages out of the bank 1 day later. ie -one week she drew it on Mon, did the shopping to last 8 days, then the next week she drew her wages out on Tues and did the same. Every 7 weeks she had a whole weeks wages spare, she used to treat us all and felt really pleased with herself.

Know what you mean HF, most of us get paid monthly now, and it just doesn't seem to work for me. I tried it once years ago, divided salary into 5 and made it last 5 weeks, but it was too difficult. You can scrimp for 1 day maybe, but we couldn't manage a whole week. Its the old saying yet again. THERES TOO MUCH MONTH LEFT AT THE END OF THE MONEY :wall:

Hi my late father did this when he was posted to Bulford camp during W.W.2 and it ment that my poor old mum went short every seven weeks .She had to be even more inventive with her little store cupboard.

    I'm up for this!

I love when I have a no spend day and they are getting more and more frequent nowadays - hurrah for packaged lunches and working in an area with no decent shops!
