I moved from Natwest to nationwide becasue i was fed up with the way natwest was telling me what to do with my money and keepted saying i had a lot going into my account. so i told them i wanna close becasue i was fedup of it.
So i went with nationwide, now i am with them i can never use my card online
In then pass 2 week i had my card blocked becaue of streage actity on the account
This is doing my head in. it was ok yesturday and i was even in there branch opening up a savings account with them and then today my card is block.
This is now taking them !!!!. its almost every time i spend online it gets blocked.
i am going up tomorrow to close my account and i will go else where.
Advoid them if you can.

Been with Nationwide for about 35 years and have not had any of these sort of problems. I would suggest there is a lot more to this than meets the eye, maybe a talk with the local manager would sort it out.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

What is the strange activity on your account? Sounds like they are trying to protect your security, why don't you go and see the advisors on the help desk (not the cashier) and sort it out before you move? The Flex account is a good account, especially if you are travelling abroad.0

when I had a problem with barclays I thought they were the worst bank ever. Then had a problem with abbey and thought they were the worst bank ever, I could go on and on.
Closing a account is really not the answer, in fact it only causes more probs. As suggested go and talk to your friendly bank manager he/she will soon sort out all issues.0 -
If you have a problem with Nationwide the first port of call is to talk to the manager at your branch.
If that doesn't sort the issue out write a complaint letter to member services (address is on the nationwide site) and send the letter via recorded delivery.
I also suggest you get a credit card to use if you want to buy things online. (Get a card then if the limit's too high ask them to lower it.) It's much safer for you as if something goes wrong it's not your money but the credit card company's, and so if someone uses the card fraudulently or a company decides to help themselves to your money, you can dispute it and won't end up paying for it.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I cannot praise Nationwide enough - they have been brilliant with me, and at one point suggested I didn't take out PPI because they didn't think it applied to me.
When you are buying stuff online, are you getting the 'verified by visa' thing? It's a bit of a PITA when it interrupts the flow, but just remembering your login and password means that you have that bit more security. If there is a problem with that, perhaps that is what is causing the card to be frozen. Or are you fiddling round with the card readers. It does bug me because I can never remember where I put the dratted thing but again I am happy to take the  because it is going to give me a bit more protection against fraud.
Honestly, ring their UK call centre and speak to someone, they have always been really good with me.Always another chapter0 -
Nationwide now don't even offer PPI on loans. Seems like they are trying to do things right for their customers instead of throwing in any old extra as long as it gets more revenue in.0

Nationwide wouldn't offer me the same 20% discount on my home insurance as I'd enjoyed as a new customer, when it came round to renewing the other week. So I switched to someone else, only to watch tv the next day and see the Nationwide advert offering 20% discount for new and renewing customers lol
I banked with them for 8 years too, however my main bank account is with Cahoot now and I love it.0 -

It's actually dangerous.
The more passwords you ask people to remember the more likely they are to use the same ones they are already using or to write them down.
Banks and other financial institutions need to get it into their heads that people now have more than one or two bank accounts and credit cards. So imposing more usernames and passwords on people is actually making the system more insecure.
However from the banks perspective they can then turn around and blame the customer when fraud happens on their account.Or are you fiddling round with the card readers. It does bug me because I can never remember where I put the dratted thing but again I am happy to take the  because it is going to give me a bit more protection against fraud.
I don't have any problem with the card readers as it means I don't have to remember (forget) another load of passwords. However I know they cause problems for some users.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

The Flex account's great abroad: no charges. I opened a 2nd one to use with eBay, and gave the card to Mrs MbW so I can send her money without paying Western Union/Moneygram 25-30 quid for the privilege.0

Well i had my card blocked AGAIN this is 2 times now in a space of 2 weeks
The first time i got my card blocked was when i order a mobile phone on a contract
This time the only thinge i have done is use my card at a cash point to get my self £50 out.
Yes when i do buy on line 90% of the places do use verified by visa and i never have a problem with that. its just that if i use/pay somethink by paypal, or anythnk that dont use verified by visa then it will not work of the card is blocked.
Dont get me wrong i like the fact that they are looking after my intrest and that but you have to admin getting my card block 2 times in a month is taking the Pi**
When i went up today to get it unblock they said the same as last time
They have no idea when they keep blocking my card like this.
i have pointed out to them that if it happens agian i will be sending a letter to the head office as well as closeing my account with them.
Lets hope thats the end of it
P.s thank you for you feedback and input0
