"Hello can I speak to Thomas"

"the reason I am calling you today is that Vodafone recognises you are a valued customer and we would like to offer you a special deal"
THINKING THAT THEY ARE CALLING ME TO UPGRADE ME FOLLOWING MY PAC REQUEST I SAID OK....
"We would like to give you a months free insurance"
"so what is special about that, technically you are flogging me insurance dressed up as a special offer"
"its a good deal"
phone went dead.

Are you sure it was Vodaphone that rang you and not a 3rd party using dubious sales techniques? Nothing in your post suggests they explicitly said they were Vodaphone, especially the "carefully" phrased "the reason I am calling you today is that Vodafone recognises you are a valued customer and we would like to offer you a special deal"!
Nothing to say Vodafone and "we" are one and the same.0 -
