    some poeple are really confused

i was being ironic, of course i will always drive with insurance my rant was more aimed at those that see thay don't have insurance

you should pay less of a fine because your unemployed why not delay part of the fine untill they begin work or make the offence affect there unemployment benefit

why not make them do more community service

My friend lives in Australia and does not pay insurance as such. It is included in his car tax, so at the basic level he would buy a tax disc for a certain amount with gives him 3rd party insurance along with road tax.

A far better way of doing things imo.

Can't agree with that. It means that, for example, a 20-year old male with a couple of drink-driving convictions and recent claims would pay the same amount for third-party insurance as a 40-year old woman with a totally clean driving history. Those who are a higher risk should pay more.

Let's not forget that no innocent victim will ever go without compensation in the UK as the Motor Insurer's Bureau will ultimately compensate victims where the driver has no insurance and no means to pay the court judgement.

At the age of 36, I've just been quoted £207 fully comp for an 04 plate 2L Mondeo which, with cashback through Quidco, brings it down to £162.

How very nice for you - following the riots we had up here we will never see prices like that again my 02 celica 1.8 (bought from new) costs over £500 (restricted millage of 5,000 per year) I have over 12 years NCB (have more but was on an American car policy before that that did not give NCB) and never had a conviction and I'm 46. this is not something I can have any bearing on, its not my fault that Bradford is a dump
it's income related so unless you're unemployed, you'll be paying more.

So same crime but if I do it I get to pay more because I work -- Whhooopppeee I wonder if I want to stay at the Ritz I'll have to pay less because I earn less than their usual clients ???
